Is there something like Disney's Photopass at US?

We just returned from US/IOA and there is now something similar to photopass. It is different in a couple of ways. 1) I didn't see the photographers anywhere in the park other then the entrance. 2) They hand you a claim ticket with a distinct number for each and every photo that they take. So if you have 50 pics taken you will have 50 claim tickets instead of just the one photopass card. 3) The price is much more expensive per photo. On our Disney trip last June I pre-purchased the photo pass and wound up with over 200 pics for that one pre-purchase price. The US/IOA photos are about $20 each and unless I missed it on the web site there really isn't an option for a group purchase.

Thanks for that link. I wasn't aware that they had something similar to photopass. Like the other posters, I just thought they gave the claim tickets. I'm glad to see that they are offering something a little more convenient.
Me too...I didn't know this was added recently.

Interesting...Photopass is the one thing that Disney has done recently that's better than the competiton, I'm glad Universal is experimenting with something similar finally (does this mean they stop asking you to take your picture as you enter the park?)

Me too...I didn't know this was added recently.

I was talking to someone who visited IOA recently and they said Universal lets you see your ride photos at home but also sells books and other products like Photopass. I understand that one of the big differences is that the Universal site lets you email your photobooks for other people to see. I read that you could post it to your facebook but I haven't tried it yet. When I checked out the site, it seems like it has a lot of interesting stuff. I'm going to check it out.

They do have a plastic card now that is similar to photopass but I'm not sure exactly how it works or if you can also include your ride photos or not.

I had two clerks ask me this week if I had a photo connect card, or whatever they are called, but not one person offered it to me when I said no :confused3. What is the point if nobody gives it to you? We were at the park four days this week and I think it would have been nice to have.

They should give it to you the first time you have your picture taken.

I would love to see "a perk" to be photo-pass linked to your hotel/ticket/express pass for those staying on property. Maybe they could even put a photo kiosk @ each on-site hotel that guests could even print pics @ hotel:goodvibes

I would just add that I found the workers to be more pushy about getting your pic taken. I don't know if they work on comission or what...

From what I understood you had to buy a photo to get a photo connect card. It's not like Disney where they just give you the card first.

I also think the Universal photographers are more pushy. I had one actually basically bribing me if I buy my photo from him.

Huh, had no idea this existed at Universal. Anyone have any more insight? The website is pretty much useless as far as information goes...

on our last visit we had a photo taken at barney. we were given the plastic card and told to take it up front to view the photo. we bought one 8x10 and when we got home we registered on-line to see our photos. you have a choice of several packages and sizes you can buy. you can take the card back with you and
have photos added to your account. you can add different borders to your pictures from home. i think it's a great idea.

i also have never found the photographers pushy- i think they are just having fun with their job!

I was looking that universal photo connect website and it says that the digital download price 'starts' at $16.95. Does anyone know if this is for one photo? or what the pricing goes up to? or how many photos you can download? sorry for all the questions

I just looked on their site too. It looks like it's 16.95 for a digital download of 1 picture! :sad2: That's crazy. I always pre-order the Disney photopass CD for $100...and that's for like 200 pictures! That stinks....I always love my photopass pictures....I hope the price comes down in the next 6 months.

Me too, with pricing like that surely not many people will be willing to buy? I doubt there's many people who come away with only one or two photos....

I even sent an email to the contact address on the Universal photo website and am yet to received a reply, not looking too promising :sad2:
