Is there REALLY an AKL tour?

I have heard about and AKL tour. I wanted to know if anyone has done this or if you know that they are doing this at the AKL?

I heard that it's a free basic tour of the Resort and you don't have to be a guest at that hotel to go on it. I have also heard that sometimes they give you a tiny bite of an appetizer to try at one of the restaurants at the end of the tour (not that we need this, we are on the dining plan and will be too stuffed to think the whole trip). Just curious.

We went on an architectural tour of the Dolphin when we stayed there and we loved it (was before they gutted it...uggg). Plus, we love to do 'out of the parks' things and avoid the crowds.

Anyone know anything about it?
thanks!

There is a culinary tour at Boma and Jiko which explains about the design of those restaurants as well as the food. I got to sample a soup at Boma and a few deserts. It runs in the afternoon before those restaurants open for dinner (around 3.45 or 4 pm).

There used to be an art tour around the resort explaining all the different art. That was available when we stayed there in 2007, but not in 2008. I am not sure wether it depends on there being a qualified cast member available. It was in the evening around 8 pm or so.

There also is a "cultural safari" which is a talk by an African CM about their home homecountry. So it will depend on who gives the talk what you will hear. It's also in the evening.

There are other activities around the lodge about animals and African culture as well, but no guided tours that I am aware of. They are all open to everyone who shows up. There are activity boards in the lobby where you can see the time and place for everything.

THANKS SO MUCH!

I'm excited about getting in on one of the tours. After so many trips to Disney, I'm always looking for something new (that won't make me go broke, of course).

thanks again!

No problem! I really enjoyed those tours and I think it is great that they offer them. It makes AKL such a unique place. :goodvibes

They also have an art tour at Jiko, the restaurant at the Villas. It begins at 4:00 PM, and I believe it is every day.
