Is there much difference in the food quality between ships?

I was looking at Cruise Critic and they specifically name the Fantasy and Dream on the top 10 list, but not the Wonder or Magic.

I understand that the restaurants, and number of venues are different, but I am wondering specifically about the quality.

Thanks!

The main difference I see is the pizza. The pizza sucks on the dream class ships. Can't think of anything else right now.

The actual quality can vary from ship to ship. As well as from cruise to cruise on the same ship. A lot of variables.

Who the chef is. How he/she prepares food. Available product. All that can change things.

We've mostly good food on all our cruises. Sometimes really excellent stuff, and sometimes, not so good. Even the same dish may vary.

Here here. After our cruise on the Dream, we cruised the Magic and I told DH I was going to try the pizza again. He looked at me as if I had sprouted another head since it was so horrifyingly bad (no exaggeration, it was nearly inedible). Then I told him either they upgraded the pizza since our cruise the year before or the Classics have better pizza. I guess it's the latter.

The vast majority of food is pre prepared off ship wherever it can, leaving minimal work on the ship, with the exception of palo. The same suppliers generally, ( exception on cruises away from USA say Europe. ). The food say in Flotida is a regular order week in and week out.

Recent experience is the desserts and bread on the magic is a lot worse, down to how there finished off on ship. As the saying goes, anyone can cook, if the process is broken down into stages, - fast food staff say are not cooks, but follow a process.

Overall standards are falling.

There are chefs in palo, Remy, and head chefs in charge of the galleys.

I've never noticed any difference between the Dream, Fantasy or Magic.

The pizza on the Magic was the only food I liked.

Do they have a better rating because of Remy?

I think that may explain it. In today's cruise industry speciality restaurants are very much the thing. Wonder and Magic only have one and that seems very low compared to other ships.

And funny side note: I never liked the pizza on the Wonder or the Magic, but had some decent (but not great) slices on the Fantasy...

The Wonder is listed as #! in the mid size vessels. I agree the addition of Remy may explain it otherwise.

As far s pizza goes..................pizza is very arbitrary to personal tastes.

**smacks forehead** I didn't even see that tab to toggle to the mid-size ships. Thanks

No problem..........I am wondering what happened to the Magic......the only thing I can think of is that her summers in Europe somehow caused her not to be included.

The Gorgonzola & Grape was one of the worst things I have ever eaten.
Now, see I love it. The spicy one - not so much, but I'm not much of a spicy eater.

DH & I get 1/2 and 1/2 sausage/grape when we are at Palo (just too much food for separate ones)

I thought the build you own pie in AP was much better on the Magic than on Dream. Can't wait to have it on Magic again in a few weeks!

Claire :)

We've found the dining room food to be better on the Magic than the Fantasy, but I am sure it can very. Quick serve options seemed better on the Fantasy. Pizza was lousy on both.
