should we just book a hotel on premise. We have had a bunch of family emergencies that seem to be clearing up and we really need a break fast. We are hoping to travel in a week and a half. What should we do?

Plenty of time as long as there's availability.
Best to check on this board with someone who is renting points...you'll be all set provided there's availability.

No serious member will rent you anything (even if it is available) without full payment to even make the reservation. If they make the reservation and you fail to pay them immediately, they have to cancel and their points go into holding. There isn't any time to even contact you back with what is available because it would probably be gone when they go back to book it.

Plus availability is probably very limited this late.

I also doubt you would find availability. We are going down Tuesday. My friend, also a dvc member has been trying to book (waitlisted) four nights at OKW, SSR and nothing has been available. This has been going on for about three weeks now. She finally gave up and changed her plans. (She is down there now in Vero and was getting ready to head up to St. Augustine and then home - NY).

You need to look for someone with a confirmed reservation they can't use. We did this last minute for 4th of July week and got a crazy deal because the person would have lost their points since they couldn't use it.
