Is there criteria in adding extra park day for $10?

I have 2 part question regarding adding extra park day for $10.

1. My friend is going in October for 5 days and she bought package deal (room and meal plan) at Pop. She said she has 3 park tickets (no hopper) and one day no regular park day ticket but Halloween night ticket.

If she is to add regular park ticket on the day she goes to Halloween event, would she able to buy it for $10 or is it more? And she also mentioned on her departure day, her plane got delayed so if she wants to go to park on her departure day, how much would they be?

2. I'm also going in November for 8 days and bought from Parksavers, buy 4 days, get 3 days free hopper tickets. My plane also got delayed on my departure day so I have until 4 pm to get back at the resort so I'm thinking of adding a park ticket on my departure day. I was told here I can get extra day for $10 but have to wait until I get there. Since my ticket is already linked, why do I have to wait until I get there to add extra day? Is it because I didn't buy ticket directly from WDW site? What is the different criteria?

Thank you

1. It costs more to upgrade a 3-day ticket. ($35 to add a 4th day.)
It costs $15 to add a 5th day to a 4-day ticket.
After that, it costs $10 per added day (up to the ticket maximum of 10 days.)

2. They upgrade stand-alone tickets for guests, in-person, at a ticket booth or Guest Relations.
Since you have a 7-day ticket (as I explained above,) it costs just $10 to add another day.

(All prices, plus tax.)

Thank you so much. One more question. My friend is traveling with her 5 year old son. If she decided to add, will it be $35 for him too or does it cost less?

The difference between a 3-day and a 4-day child's (non-hopper) ticket will be $33, plus tax.

Thought of something overnight. So my friend who is has Halloween event night doesn't count as her 4th day so if she would to add a day, she should have to pay $35, not $15? Thank you again.

Yes you are correct. Her party ticket gives her no advantage in adding days to her 3-day ticket. If she wants to add the 4th day, it will be $35. If she wants to add two days to that ticket (attend day of party and departure day), it will be $50 for her and $48 for her child.

Thank you so much. I gave her wrong information yesterday so I'm glad I asked here. I guess she can think about it and if she changes her mind, she can do it at the guest services once she is there in October.

Technically, she needs to upgrade her ticket the day of the last valid admission. So, if she uses her last day of the 3-day ticket on Sunday, and she wants to add a day, she needs to upgrade it on Sunday.

I knew I had another question. It's regarding my extra day. I'll be at WDW from 11/4, Friday to 11/12, Saturday. I won't be at the park the first day but will be next 7 days so it'll be until Friday, 11/11. If I want to add a day (11/12, Saturday), do I have to do it on or before Friday, 11/11? I cannot add 11/12, Saturday morning? Thank you

You must add to your ticket before the end of the business day on the day you use your last park admission. Day of the week never matters. If you do the parks 7 days straight and want to add a day you can do so in person at any point from when you arrive on property until the parks close on the day you use your last park admission.

You can only add when your ticket is still valid-so if you use the last admission on Friday you would have to upgrade before the park closes that day.

This is actually incorrect, your ticket is valid for 14 days from first use. As long as the upgrade happens within 14 days and the upgrade doesn't make it more than 10 park days or past the 14 day limit you can upgrade it...

International tickets are valid longer and can have more park days but i don't know the exact numbers.

While that used to be true.
It no longer is true.

It may still be possible to upgrade a ticket purchased as part of a WDW Resort Package up until the 14 day limit (although I'm not too sure about that, anymore) it is not possible to upgrade a stand-alone ticket after close-of-business on the same day that the last asset was used.

Also, Florida residents can have different ticket rules.

Your ticket is valid from 14 days of first use as long as you have days remaining. Once the days are used up entirely, it's no longer valid.

I'll try to clear up the confusion. I know for a fact that what I am saying is correct, because I tried to upgrade a ticket during the first month after they changed the rules.

It used to be that as long as you were within the 14-day period, you could add days, even after you had used all your days. A few years ago, Disney changed the rules in response to major fraud that was going on. See, unscrupulous folks would buy tickets from tourists leaving WDW that had no days left. They would then go to a ticket window and add days to it at the "additional" day rate (which is much lower than the first 2 - 3 days), then they would turn around and sell those tickets to unsuspecting tourists for just a little under the window 2 - 3 day rate.

WDW put an end to that fraud by requiring that you add days while you still have a valid admission, i.e., if you are using your last day on a Friday, you have until Friday evening to add days to your ticket.

When this rule changed, I tried to add a day to our ticket at 8:00 am the day after our last day had been used. We originally were going to eat breakfast and drive home, but decided to swing by AK for a few hours on our way out. The CM at YC, where we were staying, explained the new rules, and told us it was a new rule in effect and that they could not do it (and why). I politely insisted that I didn't recall hearing those rules when I booked my package and, furthermore, they could verify my identity as I was staying at YC, I have ID and our names match the package reservation with the tickets. The CM indicated they would make an exception this one time. This wound up costing us quite a bit of time that morning.

So, OP, if you use the last day of your tickets on Friday, you will need to add days on that Friday, as long as that Friday is within 14 days of first use.

@vinotinto, thank you.
We arrive on Friday, 4:45 am but will not go to park that day so my first day will be, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Friday. So if I buy on Friday evening for Saturday, I won't have any problem.

I'm staying at Pop so I'm told I can do it at guest relations at the resort? Is guest relations booth open 24 hours? I might end up doing it early Friday morning before we leave for park or really late on Friday night after we get back from park.

On Friday night, we'll be at AK then to Epcot. Is there somewhere in those 2 parks I can add my day?

Thank you again everyone.

There is no "Guest Relations" at the resort.
Ticket business can be conducted at the resort "Concierge."

Thank you. Do you know Concierge's hours?

I think it can vary with the resort and time of year.
But, it will likely be open in the mornings by 6:30-7:00AM at most resorts, most days.

But, there ARE Guest Relations and ticket booths outside all of the Theme Parks, Water Parks, at TTC, and at Disney Springs.

You may be worrying unnecessarily about this.
Buying or upgrading tickets is a common and easy operation.
