Hello all,

Does anyone know of a way to Avoid I-4 in Orlando when approaching Disney from I-95. We always seems to arrive at rush hour in Orlando after an 8-9 hr drive and would love to use an alternate route if possible. I have looked at the map, but would like some real world feedback. Thanks in advance. :)

I have never tried it but you can switch to 417 after just a short time on I-4 out of Daytona. This is all limited access and takes you around the east side of Orlando and south of MCO airport right to Disney. This is the same 417 that almost everyone flying into MCO raves about.

Leave I4 at Exit 101, SR417 The Greenway
I4 to WDW exits is 50-55 miles, so at 60MPH allow about an hour
Tolls 5.50-6.00
417 exit 6 takes you to EPCOT Center Drive for EC, DTD
417 exit 3 takes you to Osceola Pkwy for MK, MGM, AK

CherylP, that won't work because the original poster said they always arrive Orlando during rush hour. Just to get to the 408 puts you through downtown and that is what needs to be avoided. Vonpluto's suggestion is definitely the best because you get off I-4 just as you get into the metropolitan area and then the 417 bypasses most of the city. Unfortunately TOLL 417 is an expensive bypass but it moves well during rush hour.

I live near 417 and use it, sometimes there is traffic. Usually due to an accident.

That being said, while 417 avoids the rush area, it does go in a big loop to the east and then loops you back to I4.

If you need a radio station that plays traffic: 540 AM and 580 am both give decent traffic reports.
