I have gone and sat thru the "pitch" for a few different timeshare properties. We have always gotten a discounted ticket or a free night in there hotel or even cash. Does anyone know if Disney or the timeshare store does this.
I would love to go to one of there "meetings" to learn the details of this program but I was just wondering if they offer anything like other timeshare companies.

No. But they won't chain you to your chair for the afternoon either. You can actually leave if you like! Those "deals" are associated with the high pressure sales tactics deployed by most developers. Rent some points to stay at DVC - that's the deal.

No....

you might get a free meal - but that is about it.

on the other hand seems like if you make a reservation at the Pop you might get a free upgrade to either oKW or SSR in a 1-bedroom.... :thumbsup2 :cool1: :thumbsup2

Disney (except for once when they were giving discount nights for POR ) doesn't do that....

the resalers never have done that...

with the other timeshares you are paying about 70% (or more) than that the property is worth.... so they give you something in exchange for listening and maybe just maybe you have never heard of the resale market and you might just buy....

From reading these boards, my impression is that the goodies offered are sometimes different. But I can at least tell you what I got last May when I bought at SSR...

2 "magic" fast passes. Both let me use them 4-5 times for an immediate Fast Pass, I could walk right on the ride. I thought they'd only work 2 times each, but I kept trying and was really happy :)

I also received a dish of maple walnut ice cream, with hot fudge :)

Those were just nice little extras..... certainly not the reason I took the tour.

nothing formal from disney - they don't need it - have heard that some folks got ice cream, others got fast passes 'cause they missed extra magic hours, and i think i read that some folks got a dinner credit.

i agree thatcha should rent the points and try a stay at a dvc resort - or book at a value and hope you are chosen for an upgrade to a dvc unit.

We did the tour at 5:45 and prior to booking it the guy at POP asked if we had eaten dinner yet - we hadn't, but din't know why he asked. After the tour as SS we were given a beautiful bag with the information in it and a gift card for "dinner" - we didn't have any idea that it was a $50 card... for the 2 of us who always eat counter service because the DS doesn't eat and won't stay still and happy for long that card lasted a lot longer than 1 dinner!

When we toured in February 2004, we recieved a $50 gift certificate. What was better, we cold get change in cash (so I bought an $8 item and got $42 change).

We were told this was the first time that DVC offered anything (other than ice cream, etc.) and this was perhaps the last time too!

It worked for us though. We had looked into DVc before and went to the presentation just for the $50 (thinking that we couldn't afford it), but we ended up buying shortly thereafter!

Some friends of ours got a free lunch from Disney when they bought their points. I've heard of free ice cream and fast passes also.

Disney is not high pressure. Disney is a class act and they won't abuse you and your family like most of the other timeshare tour places do.

I suspect adding big freebies would just add to the cost of buying into a membership. I don't think that Disney has to entice people to look at dvc. They already have a captive audience of mouse-crazed fanatics. (like me).

We got the ice cream and lunch for 2. When to B&C for the lunch.

Looks like I made out pretty good, 100 disney dollars, on top of the sundae bar and AC. Covered dinner and trinkets at Epcot.

They watched our kids for 2 hours, and then we got to get free ice cream sundaes at the SSR. The free childcare motivated us LOL!

Really, Disney doesn't need to do other freebies, they are totally class act and the day we went (beginning of March) the DVC tour center at SSR was pretty busy. We did eat lots of cookies (Milanos, etc--Pepperidge Farms LOL) and iced tea while we chatted with our guide.

We bought later that week. Still waiting to close! Have

We got cookies and lemonade on our first trip. On our second purchase, we got cotton candy and salt water taffy, plus two nice DVC pens to sign the paperwork with.

We got a nice beach bag when I added on points and the pen to sign the paper work. And of course the cookies lemonaid & ice cream.

Back in January, we recieved $100 Disney dollars and ice cream. When we got our paper work a nice beach bag was enclosed.

A couple of weeks ago, we were offered a $50 gift card to take the tour from a CM at MGM, but never did take it. (Althoug we're still considering DVC)

We were given an late check-out (1pm), ice cream, and snacks for the kids. I would like to note that this was really an amazing experience. We could leave whenever and the person who helped us was NEVER pushy, and, infact, gave us a lot of info to bring home and study and to call him with questions. It was really a very pleasant experience. I was all set to deal with pushy sales people, etc., and it just never happened.
