Oh, please!

It is SO much easier to read the first post, form an opinion, then scan the 18 pages of replies to find one that matches mine, and then quote it and say ITA!

That bugs me as well.

You might as well just sayughts on the "I didn't think anything the rest of you had to say was worth reading, but you should all totally know my tho matter."

Why post it if you aren't going to be part of the dicussion? Just so we all can benefit from your "wisdom"??? I don't even really care if it's a duplicate or not, I just can't get over the sheer arrogance of it.

I skip right over right posts that start with that disclaimer.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner!! :thumbsup2

This is especially shameful, in my opinion, when the OP has a serious problem or issue and is looking for feedback or advice. Often the OP will supply more information in succeeding posts which clarifies their situation. People who fail to follow the entire thread often offer worthless advice that is completely inappropriate because they've missed important information.

If you can't be bothered reading what others have already posted, then in my view, your opinion has no credibility. If come to a thread late and you don't want to read 23 pages, don't post!

:lmao: Oh honey, just read some of my posts, I'm on a tear today-I know I've annoyed at least 20 people, just today!

:rotfl2:

I just started drinking Vitamin Water and today (at work) I tried the yellow Energy Vitamin Water.

It has a LOT of caffeine and guarana in it.

Wheeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

I finished everything I've got scheduled today in like, an hour! :dance3:

:hyper:

Does it count if I skip reading replies from certain posters? :guilty: :cool2:

I couldn't agree more! :lmao:

Guilty.
If I repeat what someone else has already said, oh well. If you see it starts off as repetition, don't read the post. :confused3

Well lets just say that I am the "POSTER "Child the OP chose to call out because I added my 2 cents to a thread on the Budget Board and believe me I am so sorry I caused them any aggrevation, honestly I had read 5 pages on that thread last evening, and this morning I just went in and posted some info, but apparently it had been said somewhere else 24 pages back. I AM SO sorry I do not always have the time to sit in front of a computer and read 24+ pages. I usually do not post unless I feel I have something relevant to say...so again I am SO SORRY that I caused the OP so much aggrevation that they had to post on two separate threads on two different forums....first the Budget Boad and now the Community Board. Now I know why I spend less and less time on the disboards, it's because some of us cannot be as perfect as others. And some of us have lives other than in front of the computer....I work 60 hours a week and usually come here on a day off to get some info and perhaps give someone some that I feel maybe useful... .

Have a great day oh perfect ones!

I didn't read the other replies but I thought I'd; if the thread is only a few pages I will read them all. (But not in this thread). If the thread it 100 pages I will read the first two or three then the last two or three to see where the conversation started and were it is now. Then if I have anything to add I will.

I'm the same way. To read a thread that is even 20 pages long takes quite a bit of time, no less some of the ones that explode and run even higher in a short period of time. If they don't like what I add.. eh, skip by it then.

By the way.. I didn't read this thread entirely before posting :rolleyes1

I always try to read the entire thread before I respond. But last night something happened to possibly explain why some people don't. I was reading a very interesting thread & before I could respond it got locked--and it was locked as I was reading it. So I didn't get to add my thoughts, and that may be why some people just reply before they read the whole thing, especially if it's a juicy topic! :lmao:

What befuddles me more is why announce it?

If you don't want to read all the posts, fine. I don't think it's reasonable to read 100+ pages either, though I do try to scan and get the gist before I post.

But why, if you don't want to read it all, do you have to call out that fact? Why not just say what you have to say?

I didn't read all the replies but I actually like it when people respond without being persuaded by responses. It makes me think that people are actually answering the question/dilemma, instead of just jumping on "whatever" bandwagon.

I agree. The first time I post to someone's thread I only read the OP (obviously not this time ;) ). If I read everyone else's posts I tend to get distracted on what the OP is really asking in the first place. Also, almost every thread on the Dis that is longer than a couple of pages is the same responses over and over just said differently (kind of like this one).

Ok, how many of you are driven completely NUTS when a reply to a thread starts with this phrase:

"I didn't read the other replies but I thought I'd" blah blah blah :furious:

And the post ALWAYS duplicates something that's been already said!!!

Am I the only one who finds this utterly and completely annoying? I mean, if you can't be bothered to slog through all the pages, because you're SO sure what you have to say is unique, then just don't even post. Keep it to yourself! Really, don't share, because there's a 99% chance that somebody before you who DID bother to read through the whole thing has already said it!

So I humbly implore the tag fairy to gift me with a tag that says "Don't Post Until You've Read Every Dang Page!" :worship:

Anybody with me?

I guess I won't post anymore. If the thread has over 4 or 5 pages, I don't have time to read through every reply. And guess what...I didn't read any of the responses on this one before I replied, either. :hyper:

Wow. I see posting as totally different. I'd prefer to know how many people share an opinion.

After reading the post that propmted this personal "calling out" of a certain poster. I side with the other person. That thread was over 300 posts long by the time she posted. No way would I sit and read all of those posts. If I have something to say that I think will be valuable to the OP then you can damned well bet I'm going to post it, even if it is 300 posts later.

I think a persons reading ability has to play a part. If the thread is huge I would expect duplicate posts. Some people are quick readers some aren't. Like posted above reading a few pages in the beginning and again at the end should give you the gist of where its at. But honestly after thinking about it some, whatever, people are gonna post what they like, where they like, and when they like, read it or don't.

I had no idea this thread related to someone specifically. Thats not nice.

Oh my goodness, I was just thinking that EXACT thing--"My, she's really on a tear today, isn't she?"

Too funny! :lmao:

:rotfl2:

Me too :rotfl:

what annoys me? well, thanks for asking, I'll be happyt to tell you: when posters go on and on and on for pages back and forth arguing some percieved part of the original topic that the OP has come back and clarified is a null isuse. I can't count how many threads I have read with pages about some stupid tangent that the OP has said over and over again are not relevant to the issue at hand.

I'm a very fast reader. I just hate to read through pages and pages before I respond. But more important than that, unless new information was added, I don't see why it's necessary. I don't post ANYTHING because I think I'm the only one with this view, experience, opinion, insight, etc, but because it is MY view/experience/opinion/insight. If others share it and it is apparent by their posts, then I think that would have value to the OP. As an OP, it has value to me. I don't want someone not to post something just because someone else has said it before them.

I'm confused - are you calling me out or the OP? I'm kinda confused as why you selected my post when I agree with you.

It's just an opinion. If someone doesn't have the time to read through the whole thread and wants to post their advice for the OP, whats the big deal? It's not causing you (anyone who has a problem with repetition) any harm.
I just don't see the big deal.
