So far, we've always stayed at WL and love it there. My DH is prone to migraines and after long days in the bright parks, he really needs a hotel room that's quiet. I'd love to split our next stay to save some money, but it seems that all the Values have a reputation for being noisy with lots of kids running around all over the place. The other thing is the lack of interior hallways in both the Values and the Mods (can't leave curtains open when you're in the rooms?). BUT, I was reading the fact sheet on POR Riverside on Deb Wills' site and it sounded like there were some waterviews at Magnolia Bend that are quiet and have minimal foot traffic. Is this right? Are there any other specific recommendations???
Thanks!

We stayed at CSR in June and I thought it was quiet and peaceful. The resort is very large and spread out so I guess that is what lends it to being quiet. Having said that, though, the best bet for quiet and peace would be the cabins at FTW. Even though they are more expensive, using codes and making good use of the full kitchen can outweigh the extra cost. We love the cabins because they are so quiet and peaceful.

I stayed in Oak Manor at the POR and found this section to be very quiet and not much foot traffic at all, I was on the first floor towards the back of the building. There is a quiet pool between Oak Manor and Parterre Place, I used this rather than the main pool.
The POFQ was very quiet as well, and we stayed there the end of June beginning of July, quite a busy time of year. The only thing there is that there is only the main pool, depending on the time of year you go, it could be crowded.

Now, I don't know what time of year you are planning your next visit, so that could be a major factor.

Here's what we do. This has worked for us since 1998. We have gone in early Sept, early Dec, and our trips now are end of May (so we have different crowd level experience).

We look at the resort maps (posted on www.allearsnet.com) and we ask for a building farthest from the main building/food court. Seems like everyone else wants the buildings closest to those things.

Our May/June 2004 trip we stayed at POFQ (have previously stayed POR and AKL), and we asked for building 1 or 7. Got it. AND got a free upgraded room (river view). I am very certain that there were no other people on that side of the building.

At POR, we ask for (and get) Alligator Bayou (I think it was building 37 or 38 last time). Same thing. Very quiet.

This works for us.

Thanks for the suggestions! It seems that so many people love POR, but we live in the South and the theming isn't so exciting to us. I really love the theming at CBR...any advice there? I suppose I could follow the same idea of looking at the resort map and choosing a less popular bldg.
Thanks!

Trinidad South is the 'island' furthest from everything, should be more quiet than the rest....quite a hike to Olde Port Royale though.

DH and I loved CBR. It was very quiet and peaceful - we felt kind of secluded in a way. We both thought that CBR was quieter than some of the deluxe resorts we had stayed in - maybe because it has exterior corridors?

Since it's a convention hotel, there seem to be adults around. Also has amenities that the other mods don't - fitness center, hair salon, etc. The Pepper Market is also a little more adult-oriented vs. other moderate food courts.

Recommend the Ranchos or the Casitas sections (toward the back of the resort) would also be fairly quiet.

Good luck with your decision!!! :teeth:

We have always found the AB section of POR to be extremely quiet. ::MickeyMo

I have stayed at CBR many many times and never had a problem with noise. Also stayed in different locations. It all depends on your neighbors. That could happen at any resort.

We have stayed at all the moderates and think they are all quiet. (Unless you are over one of the "quiet pools")

The way the rooms are arranged, six to a side, the only people who pass by your room is someone who's room is on your side. So you don't have a lot of people passing by your door. Unlike the deluxes where if you have one of the first rooms every has to pass by your room to get to theirs.

Our favorite is CBR. Best mousekeeping, CM's and bus transportation that we've had at any Disney resort.

CBR is certainly quiet and peaceful. We went in May and did not hear a sound from neighbours for 10 days - no TV, shower, toilet flush - nothing. I jogged around the lake most mornings and some evenings and saw very few people. I'm sure that parts of CSR and POR also fit the bill, so you can pretty much take your pick of the moderates.

To some degree it is the luck of the draw - you can have noisy neighbors at any resort. I also believe you can experience relative quite at any resort also.

At almost any moderate or value resort if you get the building furthest from the food court, back side of the building, top floor, you have a pretty good chance of quiet.

Good points! I didn't realize that there's only 6 rooms per side...that DOES seem like there wouldn't be too much foot traffic unless your room was "on the way" to the food court, pool, etc.
Thanks again!

WE have stayed at CSR twice. We love it for many reasons. But, to respond to your post, dh is a napper-he has to come back to the room and nap before the evening out. He has never had a problem taking a nap in our room at CSR. Last trip b/c the May weather was so comfortable, he even napped outside on the hammock by the lake. We found it to be much more peaceful and quiet compared to the all stars and CBR. :)

Thanks, I'm going to take another look at CSR...lots of people seem to love it there!
