Is there any reason NOT to book with a travel agent?

Can I book online myself and then transfer to Costco?

Thats how I do it. I call DCL on opening day and get the reservation set. I tell them I want the TA to be Costco. After filling out the transfer form I email it to DCL and call Costco and tell them I have a reservation on hold and want to finish the booking and pay them the deposit............

I don't really understand what you're saying here.

I answered a prior post.....

So you're transferring it?

With that, you're in a unique situation, because Costco Travel allows the full Cash Card (the full benefit they give) for transfers. Other TAs do NOT. Since the change a few years ago, other TAs cut the OBC etc in half. For some reason Costco didn't. They are unique.

No, I dont. When I call DCL to make the reservation I tell them right at the start I want to use Costco but I want to put the reservation on hold. After emailing DCL the form giving Costco the reservation I call Costco and place the deposit, etc. Essentially DCL is making the reservation but will allow a short period of time to transfer the reservation. Ive been doing it this way for years.

I know someone has already mentioned this but when you use Costco, do you just pay through their website or do you call an agent and they do it? And can you pay with disney gift cards through costco?

Yes you pay through the website. I dont think you can use giftcards with Costco but it looks like you can use a DVA to do it. Disney Vacation Account.

It seems like, even if I know exactly what cruise I want to go on and I can book it myself online at the DCL site, I might as well book through a travel agent to at least get some onboard credit or maybe even a discount on the price. Is that right? Am I missing anything?
Sounds like you've got it exactly right.
