Is there any one place we MUST eat when at Disneyland?

We will be flying out to LAX on a Thursday and going to Disney on Friday. We catch the MR Cruise on Sunday. Can anyone tell a must do for places to eat? We are not interested in Character meals since we will have this on the cruise. It will be myself, dh, ds 5 and ds 3 on this trip.

For me it would be Blue Bayou, a must for us. Second would be Napa Rose.

It will vary from person to person but in my opinion the only must-eat at Disneyland is the Blue Bayou -- the restaurant inside the POTC ride. The atmosphere is like nothing you will get anywhere else at the park although everyone has differing opinions on the quality of the food and service (both of which have always been excellent in my book).

You're going to get tons of opinions on this but I agree with the Blue Bayou. I love the food and the atmosphere, the service is mostly good but I've had a couple times when the server wasn't so great. But the good times far outweigh the bad IMO. :)

Cafe Orleans, Carnation Cafe and Blue Bayou. :goodvibes

Blue Bayou is pretty special for the ambiance. The menu is not as good as it used to be and the prices are VERY high now too. So if cost is not a factor it is pretty cool in there.

My other choice would be Storytellers Cafe at the Grand Californian Hotel...ya gotta have the chicken/corn chowder...to die for! Have a great time on your cruise too!!

I absolutely love the pasta at Carnation Cafe for dinner. I could eat it breakfast lunch and dinner!!!!

Blue Bayou is a great place for a must eat! Fantastic atmosphere!

Adding my voice to the chorus -- you must eat at Blue Bayou. Most unique theme park restaurant ever, it's in the Pirates ride. Some have voiced reservations about food quality, but in my experience it's top-notch.

It's also the one restaurant that you had better be sure to make advance reservations for.

ETA - oh, and when you get there, check in a little early and request a water-side table. It absolutely makes the whole experience. They always tell you it will be an extra 45 minutes or an hour, but if you ask anyone who has done it, it actually takes an extra 10 minutes, if that. Don't let them scare you off.

What pasta do you love at Carnation Cafe? I have never seen pasta on the menu there before.........

We've never done Blue Bayou, but our one "must eat" every trip is Carnation Cafe. Love eating right on Main Street, great food, very affordable... Perfectly quaint.

If I was doing "super quick" trip and I had one "must do" it would be one of the WOC dining packages, because as far as I'm concerned that is THE BEST and I'd much prefer special seating.
Otherwise, I'd have to agree, Blue Bayou, mainly for the ambiance.

We love POC for the ambience waterside.

But just for yumm facto the Tiki room for a dole whip.

I agree skip the character stuff you get your fill and then some on the ship...at least we did...just sit down for lunch, drink in hand and someone spots a princess up you go....

The Dobies must eat at Storyteller's and Taste Pilot Grill (in DCA.)

And we must eat churros.

Cafe Orleans and Plaza Inn for us.

I would skip Blue Bayou. It's way overpriced, the food is just ok and the last three times we went (and one of the reasons we no longer go) is the service there is horrible. The atmosphere is ok, not sure why people think it's that amazing as it is super dark and unless you have a waterside table you don't really see anything.

Just my thoughts!

First, the atmosphere is unique, secondly we have always had good service and great food, we have always had a waterside table except in 1997, the only place I personally have found better was Club 33 for dinner.

Our "have to's" in order:
Cafe Orleans
Carnation Cafe
Taste Pilot's Grill
and if we do character dining:
Goofy's Kitchen

:thumbsup2

Our family hasn't had very good experiences with the service or the food quality at Blue Bayou, but the ambiance really is special. I'd say everyone should try it once, but if cost is a concern, beware. We once had just dessert, but I have heard they discourage that now.

When we went for our first trip in Feb of 2010 the wait for a waterside table was really an hour. I am not kidding. We waited an hour but it was totally worth it! We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and cannot wait for our next trip - next month! Blue Bayou, here we come! And Napa Rose - we can't miss that either. My must-eat is Napa Rose. DH can't decide between Blue Bayou and Napa Rose.

Wow, you're the first person I've heard say that. They must have had some slow eaters taking up the tables. We've only done BB once, but the extra wait was less than 10 minutes, as others have said. And the food and service were wonderful. Hint - their surf & turf, which is a Filet Mignon and lobster tail, is well worth the cost. It's probably the most expensive item on the menu, but only a few dollars more than just the steak. And well worth it!

STORYTELLERS for sure. If you find you cannot eat there with so many great choices, please just walk inside and look around. I just absolutely love the theme-ing of the CAFE!
