capris in August? I am leaving soon and I have not packed pants/capris for any family members. Is it necessary at night or will shorts be fine? Is it super-cold in the restaurants in the evenings? It has been so hot in Philadelphia this summer that I can't imagine needing capris anywhere!

Thanks!

Bring some for a rainy day. When it's super hot outside, it's hard to imagine that you could be cold. However, when it's a rainy day, they still have the AC cranked up...so you go into a restaurant or store or on a ride with wet legs and you freeze!

I had heard about rain in the summer in FL - I know about the afternoon showers. But of the 10 days we were there, it rained a lot on 6 of them; on 2 of them it pretty much rained all day. I was glad to have capris with me.

I'm actually cooler in some of my capris than shorts since the sun can't beat down on my thighs!

But yes, I found I even wore pants at night a couple of times in early September. And on one rainy day I wanted a sweatshirt badly.

We typically go early September, have never needed to bring or wear capri pants. MAYBE on the airplane, but never once arriving in hot sunny Florida.

I wore capris in the plane ride down. In Philly you never know what you will come back to temperature-wise. I did wear them one night when we just went to DTD for dinner and I wanted to look a little more dressed up. Then I wore them on the way back.

I would pack or wear a pair on the way down just to be safe. I agree that rain and air conditioning can make you feel chilly.

Capris are really great in hot humid weather if you don't want to stick to seats! :rotfl2:

Thanks! We were in Disney Aug 20-27 and I did wear capris on the plane. My kids wore shorts and used the airplane blankets when they got chilly. Then we never wore anything but shorts and sleeveless shirts as it was so HOT. I packed little white hoodies for the girls and brought them with me to the sit-down restaurants. Other than then, we did not need them.

Now, I must confess that the gods must have been on our side. The few times it rained we were inside...once it poured buckets while we were in the Hoop Dee Doo Revue-- it cleared up 5 minutes before the show/dinner was finished. The other time it really poured we were in the Country Bear Jamboree. Any other time it rained we were in our hotel room. Life was good! We did put our ponchos on after leaving the CBJamboree but they were the dollar store ones and were really uncomfortable. It felt like we were wearing dry cleaning bags (you know, the plastic covering they put over your clothes--not too fun in 99 degree, humid weather!)

When I get more time I will try to put together a trip report. We had such a wonderful time. The dining plan was fabulous. We ended up getting last minute reservations at CRT at noon for lunch on a day that we had planned to be in the Magic Kingdom... The lines were only bad late in the day and during some evenings. The buses home in the evening were disappointing. The trip was too short, went too fast...but was divine...

I plan on wearing capris my entire trip. It s all I packed with the exception of the jeans I'll be wearing on the plane. But that is due to a general distaste for shorts (or maybe they just have a general distaste for me!)
If I get too hot I'll duck into a store
