Is there any meal plan for DVC members?

We loved the Dream maker silver plan that Disney offers for resort stays. It's the one with 2 wishes per person that can be used for 2 meals a day. We loved that we could order anything and that it was prepaid (except for drinks with alcohol). Is there any plan available to DVC members that covers meals? Or can DVC members buy the silver or gold plan seperately-with out the Dream maker part? I would appreciate any information on this. :flower:

Currently, there is no meal plan available to DVC members (not even as an add-on). At one point, they did offer a plan to but it was eliminated many years ago.

Who knows....maybe some of the new changes will bring back a plan.

That's funny, my wife told me there was a meal plan.............I'm cooking!!

How can any one take their kids to the parks all day & eat a huge meal at night. Let alone eat a huge lunch.

I wish there was a 1 wish per night plan. Then I might do it.

If you are really interested in prepaid meals, you might like purchasing meal vouchers. You can go to the budget board and do a search to find more information on this.

There is a bronze plan with just one wish per night. I don't know if it is limited to booking by travel agents, but it is in the newest DVD that is sent out.

I don't think the plans were very popular with DVC members, but it is nice to read someone who likes the plans. Everyone I personally know always complained that they felt they needed to eat way too much to 'make it worth it'.

The 'meal vouchers' are a good alternative, but they, like the 'official' meal plans have that 'must eat to make it worthwhile' potential.

If "pre-paid" is a big part of the attraction, one thing some folx do is pre-pay a credit card before they go. Then you can psych yourself into believing it's "free" since it's already paid for, so order what you want. :-)

Hope this helps,
Joe

Or get the Disney Visa card and use your Reward Points for meals. We did that in July and basicially ate free for 5 days. Just kept handing them the Rewards Card for 'payment' and they subtracted the total from our credit/balance. We ate in several sit down locations too. If you charge lots of stuff during the month and then pay off in cash monthly you pay no finance fees and have lots of DIsney money to spend.

Believe it or not, that plan is only available to be booked outside of the US.

That's exactly the problem we ran into when we did the 2 wish plan (outside of DVC). Obsessed with the fact that each wish cost over $30, we took all our lunches and dinners at expensive restaurants where we ate everything in sight right down to the tablecloths. It stopped being fun and became a burden ("Oh my God, not another slice of cake!") and we're still paying for that extravagance today ("Daddy, we ordered lobster at Disney, why can't we get it tonight?").

Thanks for all your help. I do believe doing 3 sit down meals a day is overkill (we tried the Gold plan once). But we loved the silver because we used it for character or nice resort breakfasts. Then, we just grabed fast food or a snack for lunch because we knew we were having a nice sit down dinner at a great restaurant. All we had to do was sign the slip, pay for my husband's beer ;) and leave. I'm thrilled to join DVC, but I will miss that plan! Thanks again for the info :wave2:

I think it is called agreeing under duress........besides it was the only way I could get her to lower the frying pan from the above the head position.  :teeth:. Wish I was younger, I use to be able to outrun her. Or is it the 33 years of her good cooking.

The lunch vouchers selling for $15-20 each are a waste of money.
This past March me, my wife and 3 yr old ate lunch at the Disney restaurants in the parks and the bill came to about $20 each day without trying to save any money.
Dinners are another story. We went to the better restaurants and we got what we wanted including wine. The bill came to about $70 a night without trying to save money.
No; we didn't eat the tablecloth or half the bread they gave us.

There are some DVC discounts for dining, but not a pre-paid voucher plan. Some of the EPCOT countries have 20% off lunch, which we enjoy. Other restaurants have 10% to 15% off all day long. Check your perks pages when you check in, as these discounts are subject to change. I don't think any character meals are discounted, I don't really know since we don't do character meals.

There used to be a meal plan that we liked through DVC it was prepaid $60.00/day/adult and Disney would alot $65.00/day for prepaying. So if we stayed for 3 nights they would alot $195.00 to be spent as we wished on meals or cocktails(great for Pleasure Island night) and could be used for tips as well. You were not restricted to a certain dollar amount on any given day, and if you went over the total alloted amount we just paid the difference. But if you didn't spend it all by the end of your vacation.. no refund. The other nice feature was on the receipts that were given would show what funds were left in the prepaid account, so we always knew what we could spend.:earsboy:

It was called the Food n Fun card at one point. And like most All Inclusive type deals, after 3 days everyone is so stuffed they quite ordering all the stuff. That's where they make their money. The plan had many variations but one time we got it for 3 days and the kids price was not restricted to kids meals. My school age kids enjoyed it for a while, then they didn't care anymore.
