Is there any indoor seating at Flametree BBQ?

The food looks and sounds great here, but I've read numerous reports of birds begging for food where you sit to eat.

I have a bird phobia; they frighten me a great deal. I would not enjoy a meal where I was being stalked by them. Any indoor seating without birds?

Unfortunately, there is no indoor seating at Flame Tree - only covered pavilions. The only quick service location at Animal Kingdom with indoor seating would be Pizzafari and Restaurantasaurus.

No. Sorry. I do not like birds, I don't think it would be fair to use the word 'phobia' but they really freak me out. I would not recommend eating here for you.

Bummer. I'd like to try it, but the birds would make me insane.

It would be a nightmare for you because people feed them and they've gotten aggressive enough to steal food when you look away. If people would think beyond the moment, in general, things wouldn't be so topsy turvy!

We ate there last year. There were three birds around our table. They moved on when we didn't give them anything. They didn't try to steal from us, but that doesn't mean they won't based on what others are saying. If birds bother you, than it would probably be best to avoid eating there.

They don't beg. They will grab it from you.
Option: get your food, and look for a spot away from the birds. You don't have to eat in that flame tree area.

I wonder how far I'd have to get away from the place to avoid scary birds going after my food.

I think if you stay toward the entrance to the building nearest the counter you might be fine. Last time we sat near the condiment stand and didn't encounter any.

I love Flame Tree. It's such a great restaurant that I always hit it up once on any trip. I agree with @illinidp about choosing the section nearest the counter.

On my last visit, I was eating by myself so I picked the most remote section to get a nice view. One very large, colorful bird approached my table... completely unafraid of me. As he stretched out I realized just how tall he was, and aggressive. He looked me straight in the eye (him standing up and me sitting at eye level). I moved my arm to gesture him away and he took another step closer, insisting. Uh oh, this bird meant business. I looked at him in the eye and said "NO! GO AWAY," feeling very silly about talking to a bird. He responded with some kind of warble and stood his ground. I couldn't help but think this was like the scene in Up, when Kevin is mocking Carl. A few moments passed, and when it became clear to him that we were at an impasse, he walked away.

Later in the meal, a cast member came out to the section and spent some time shooing away the birds. I guess she wasn't afraid of them. She quickly cleared tables where inconsiderate guests left their trays out to be picked over. She also spent time educating a boy who was dropping cornbread pieces on the ground. Unfortunately, it's people who created this problem by feeding the birds.

Am I the only one thinking FOB?:rolleyes1

AK is surrounded by birds. Flame tree eating area is multilayered all outdoors and yes, birds are everywhere. From little ones to big ones

You could always scope out the area and see if any of the areas are bird less. I would start w the higher levels not the ones by the water

Good luck w you FOB

There will be birds and like my husband has said, if there is such a thing as reincarnation, he wants to come back as a Disney bird since they are "protected" just by being in the parks (any of the parks). We love sitting at Flame Tree, having a snack and an adult beverage and we just ignore the birds. None have ever stalked us or tried to grab our food and we go there every trip (over 60 so far). We have had to, though, on a few occasions, told people to stop kicking and running around after the birds. And I'm talking adults and kids. Also, there used to be cards given out on every tray at Flame Tree that reminded people not to feed the birds as human food is not good for them.

To the OP - you can always get food from Flame Tree and move to another area to eat. Just take the tray(s) with you. Not the best solution but it could work.

When I saw this thread title my thought process went like this:

1. Mmm...Flame Tree
2. Not inside, but lovely seating in the pavilion over the water
3. Birds!

And we had literally gotten to Flame Tree when it opened. In fact, we were the first people in line at the registers and watched them do their official "opening" with clapping and singing/chanting/whatever. Got our food and went to the paviion overlooking the water, it was so peaceful and nice. But the birds were there soon after. So were the other people, including a family with a child who screamed bloody murder nonstop at a pitch that could break glass. I don't know if birds can hear, but if they can, they're tougher than I am. We left because of the child, not the birds.

But yeah...if you have a bird phobia, it's probably not the best choice.

Several years ago I was sitting at a table near the water at Flame Tree BBQ. I was alone and I felt a tug on my pants leg. I looked down and it was a male duck pulling on my leg. It was so cute I gave him a piece of bun. I know I shouldn't have fed him, but I couldn't help it. Go ahead and flame me, but don't lecture me.

And advice to the OP...honestly...any outside seating area may have birds (some more than others, but definitely Flame Tree)...my dd doesn't like them either so I understand and they can be aggressive (had a sandpiper take off the entire top of my ice cream once when I walked out of the ice cream shop on the BW...I mean I barely started walking...he was stalking me!! LOL!!:lmao::lmao:)

I love Flame Tree, but the birds seem to be getting more and more aggressive each time I go. My last trip this past summer I was on a solo trip and was eating one of the chicken Salads from there when one of those very tall birds came over to my table and wouldn't leave me alone!!! It even snatched the chicken right off of my salad! I'm kind of scared to eat there now after that bird!

This is why I order duck a lot in restaurants. Revenge Mr. Duck. Revenge.
