Is there any high quality Harry Potter candy?

I bought a chocolate frog (~$10) and Chocoballs (chocolate covered strawberry creams, 6 for $7) on a recent trip to IOA and both tasted like they came from a dollar store. One would think that for such exorbitant prices, the quality would be at least comparable to any name brand chocolate! :confused3 I know I was paying for the brand, but I'm now extremely hesitant to try anything from Honeydukes on my next trip. Has anyone tried any candy that actually tasted good?

I don't think you are actually paying for the quality of the candy. It is more about the packaging and the concept.

Not that I have found.

Then again, I have barely eaten any of it but the chocolate. (ingredient problems with most of the other stuff)

The packaging is beautiful, though, and some of it can be saved, like the chocolate frog packaging, or the jellybean container (which is currently filled with "safe" Trader Joes jellybeans in our house and sitting out!). I might even save the big Honeydukes chocolate bar wrapper, once I remind the family that I have one stashed away and we eventually eat it.

Yes, that's exactly the problem. If people will buy it regardless of what it tastes like, there's no reason to spend more to improve the quality - except for repeat visitors, who won't buy the same thing again. Once you have a couple of souvenir packages, there's not much reason to try any other things if you know you can't eat them. I was hoping there would be at least one or two decent items (maybe the hard candy?). If no one has found anything good though, at least the fresh baked treats are still tasty!

The thing I like the best (and is very yummy) is the jar of multicoloured chewy balls. They are really good and the jar is a nice keepsake and not very expensive.

The other flavours are good too but those are my favourite.

None that I have tasted.I got a jar of the Sherbert lemons and they were NASTY.Love the jar though

Most of what I purchased was mainly for the packaging. However, I really like the peppermint toads, sugar quills, jelly slugs and chewy fruit balls in the jar. I also love Berti Botts Beans, as a long time Potter nerd I've gotten good at distinguishing between marshmallow and vomit and lime and booger through out the years. Of course my favorite bean is grass, so maybe my opinion is not worth much.:rotfl:

When we went in Dec '10 we got a Cauldron Cake from the bakery case at Honeydukes and it was REALLY good.

I bought one of those white chocolate packaged skulls last summer, and I remember it tasting pretty good...then again I was really full at the time and didn't eat much of it...

GRASS is also my favorite! :yay:

Just the packaging alone makes my spoiled kids happy, so there's that! Although Number One Son doesn't care much for any of the WWOHP stuff, all 4 of his sister DEFINITELY do! Since the boy and I are most likely driving this trip, we should have spare room-even if we take the Beetle-for a few extra souvenirs! I'm thinking that cool jar would earn us "some" points with the girls.

I had a piece of a Chocolate Frog last December and I thought it tasted pretty good for theme park chocoate. It had a good milk chocolaty taste. It's certainly not the best chocolate, but I didn't think it was too bad.

Cauldron Cakes, and Treacle Fudge are about the only things that have held the quality. We had a chocolate frog during the soft opening, and it was delicious. Had another a few months ago and it was horrid. But it's the card you want!
I love the pepper imps (little hard cinnamon candies) and yes the sour balls are great. I also love the "U-No-Poo" candy from Zonko's. They're just light green M&M's but my daughter swears she can't poop for days after eating one.

The only things I've found there that tasted decent were the cauldron cakes, Treacle Fudge, and pumpkin tarts. All of those of course are in the clear case. Anything I've bought from out in the store with the cute packaging has been nasty.
