I have friends who are spending only 2 days at WDW and want to go 1 day to US just to do the Wizarding World...they are crazy to cram all that in...I know. But I thought I'd help by throwing together itineraries...

I've never been to US [yet] just researched it.

I thought I had read an itinerary here that focused on maximizing the WW stuff....can't find it...

Anyone have a link or ideas? Thanks.

They're going end of the month...on a SATURDAY...yikes.

Most people don't make elaborate touring plans for Universal like they do for Disney. If they are only going to IOA for HP, just get there early and spend as much time in WWoHP as they can. Then explore the rest of the park. They could even do WWoHP again in the evening...depending on the park hours.

she was thinking they were only going to do the wwhp but I'm thinking with her kids being 8 and 10 y.o. boys they'd probably enjoy roller coasters too.

LOL...

they are staying at WDW so won't have early access should they still do the WWHP first? or work their way around? thanks.

I think I'll suggest she do other areas and go back before leaving to WWHP. I appreciate the help...just so used to having to plan it out!

and it's saturday end of october so 9am to 8pm

The Unofficial Guide to Disney World has touring plans for Universal Studios.

I would definitely recommend being at IOA when it opens and doing WWOHP first thing, even without the on-site early entry.

Don't know what's it's like on the last Saturday of the month, but I was there the first Saturday of October. Now, I was there w/o kids, but in one day I had plenty of time to do almost everything at IOA - and that included riding Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey 7 times (using the single rider lines).

WWoHP is busiest from 11-4ish, so I would try to plan activities in that area before or after that time. The Saturday I was there, it stayed really busy through the evening too, but the other days there was practically no one there after 5:30 p.m. Morning is probably best.

Are they only going to IOA or to both parks? Both parks is a bit of a stretch, but IOA only should not be a big problem.

They might also want to decide their comfort level with single rider lines. For some of the rides, you can save a lot of time by going through the single rider line, although with a 9/10 y.o. maybe they aren't comfortable with that, or maybe the kids don't want to do that. They can still wait in line together, they just won't be able to ride in the same car. The groups with younger children I saw using them, the parent went through first, and then waited at the end for the kids to get off.

My only official "plan" was to make a list of which things I absolutely HAD to do, and do those first. After that, I just wandered around and did anything else depending on lines. Other than FJ, I don't remember any lines that were longer than 20 minutes. The only two areas of the park that were crowded were WWoHP and Seuss Landing, and both of those were far below the levels I was expecting. Crowds in WWoHP were actually busier on Monday.

ETA: Don't forget to have them check height requirements before deciding what they are going to do - FJ is 48", Dragon Challenge (also part of WWoHP) and Hulk are 54". Don't want the kids to be disappointed if they plan on something, then aren't tall enough to ride. Dr. Doom is 52". Most of the rest are 36"-42", so are probably not a problem unless they are very small for their ages.
