is there an ER thread?

My wife says the rocker doc is the most attractive man on the show now.

I liked ER better back in the day. I like it OK now but they need to show more in depth stories or stories that carry over to another episode. We need to care about a character. Right now I don't.

I do like Neela and Galant.
Don't like Abby w/ Luka - liked her w/ Carter better.
Like the rocker doc and Pratt
Don't like the new resident or new head nurse.
We need a new hot steamy romance. Maybe that's why we like Neela and Galant.

Oh, BTW, am I weird because I like ER and I am a straight guy?

ER is about the only time that DH will watch something besides ESPN, so I don't think you're wierd. :confused3

At first I thought that Neela was dreaming and they'd show her waking up. I really like her and hope that this leads to them doing more with her character.

In all of the years that I've been watching ER (with plenty of peeking from behind a pillow for the gory parts), the only character who I absolutely cannot stand is Sam. She is so annoying and gets on my last nerve. I'll be thrilled if Luka ends up with Abby.

I thought she was written off after she didn't get tenure last season, but I could be wromg...

I don't know about anyone else, but having worked in a hospital for almost 20 years, I have never know so many people to sleep around with each other! A couple here and there, but nothing like on ER. I used to love ER but I feel like it's becoming a soap opera!

Weaver mentioned Susan real fast in passing. Said she took another job somewhere else because she didn't get tenure. That is why they hired that new resident. So - yes Susan is gone.

I thought for sure the nurse who left in the beginning died, I thought she would be on one of the ariplanes. Anyone else think this too?

I was totally expecting that and POOF--she magically appears.

It seemed disjointed to me. I think they wanted us to think something happened to her....but I find it really odd that 1. She didn't call in and 2. when someone asked where she was and the response was oh--she's on her trip (or something, don't recall what)--I'm thinking....I know it is busy--but you would think they would make a connection. But no. She just magically appears.

Who's susan--is that Sherry something or other? On one episode in the past month they dropped a line in the show that said she accepted a position elsewhere. If that isn't Susan--somebody accepted a position somewhere.

Re: Neela's smoke inhalation--she never finished her treatment and she was still breathing kind of funny--is that going to be a medical problem later?

And why was she doing a shift on the ambulance--that one lost me.

Sherry Stringfield. She became the second actress to leave the show for the second time.

Neela was in the ambulance because all residents have to do a rotation with the paramedics at some point. For some reason I thought they had to do it as interns, but maybe it's second-year residents -- or maybe Neela missed that rotation last year. I remember the rocker doc having already done his paramedic rotation, as has Abby.

I agree that it seemed a little strange that the nursing manager wasn't hurt in the plane crash... it seemed like a missed opportunity. However, on the other hand, some critics are already complaining that so much catastrophe affects ER folks that it becoming totally unbelieveable. So maybe the writers thought that the crash, and Neela's little adventure, was enough. It does make sense that she popped in late in the crisis. A catastrophe like that could close the highway, and therefore make her miss her flight. It could then take that much time to reverse direction, find out about the catastrophe, and then make her way back to County.

I'm not doubting that--what didn't make sense is that when her name was brought up in the ER....it was like--oh--she's left town . Kind of a missed opportunity for compassion--but then maybe that's just how what's her name is (Luca's ex--talked about earlier in the thread (not Abby)).

Oh, and Luka is HOT . He was smokin' when he threw Abby her panties. And her bra.

I have to agree with you. I think he is a hunk a' burnin' love!

I was wondering about the Abby and Luca thing ... I had read a spoiler that said something about Luca getting back together with Sam by this episode. I guess that spoilers was "close but off-target". They're trying to present it as "we're always there for each other" -- they really do need to be each other's friends, but Luca is not the type of guy for Abby. She's be more believeable with Duchenko, quite frankly, as Luca was more believeable with Sam. I wonder, to what extent this change in bedmate for Luca is due to audience reaction; I suspect that many 30-something women identify more easily with Abby than with Sam, so the producers feel that it would be better for ratings to have the hunk get lovey-dovey with the character that more of their target audience can more readily identify with.

My wife actually doesn't consider Luca to be a hunk -- she feels he's nothing more than puppy-dog pathetic. (I was trying to find out who she considers hunky on ER and she said that no one is, at least not as hunky as Naveen Andrews from Lost, or guys like that.) She says that the Luca-and-Abby thing makes sense because Abby can simply "read" Luca, thereby addressing Luca's biggest problem, his inability to communicate. However, in the end, all on-screen romantic relationships on ER are deliberately temporary. If they weren't, the storyline would get boring real quickly.

I find it interesting that people see Luca with Abby more than with Sam. Goran Visnjic, the actor who plays Luca, is actually closer in age to Linda Cardellini (Sam). He is 33 years old. She is 30 years old. Maura Tierney (Abby) is actually 40 years old.

Wow, I didn't know that! Luka looks older than 33 to me. I don't think it has anything to do with age, I think it is because Sam is a ***** and no one likes her. Again, I like L.C. but I hate what they've done with the character.

I would swear that Sam was on the phone right after the crash trying to find out which flight the supervisor was on. It was in the middle of the initial chaos, but I know that she tried.

I was really surprised the first time I heard how young he is. He definately looks older.

Okay--I get the dummy award...I must have been wandering around doing something instead of paying attention.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Sam was on the phone so much (not meant in a bad way)---that I'm wondering if I may have just started looking past her when she was on the phone. She seemed to be on perpetual hold.

What does everyone think of all these new celebs coming on the show? I can't help but picture John Leguizamo as his Moulin Rouge character everytime I see him. And it's hard for me to take Kristen Johnston's character (Eve) seriously when she was so funny in Third Rock. They are doing a good job but still it's hard to not think of them in that way.

Speaking of the older characters and things not being the same..... I really miss Dr. Romano. I know he was a jerk but he kept things interesting and it was nice to see his soft spot for Elizabeth.

The show is really changing. I wonder how long they'll be able to keep up with the ratings.

Oh, and what's with the "rock doctor" messing around with a 14 year old? All he got was a beating from the dad. I thought he was gonna get arrested, or something where they drag the story out more.

I heard it too. I thought for sure they would kill her off because Kristen Johnson was not signed as a regular cast member so she can't be around much longer anyway. Very surprised to see her walk in at the end!
