Is there a way to get married for under $10k?

They weren't avertising the $500 for extra people when I 1st looked into the wedding, but I asked about it during my initial call, and was told yes. So don't give up hope!

you get 5 extra guests for the $500, btw. So it goes from 18 to 23 guests.

oh no...

I think they did away with the $500 extra people fee.

I have 21 guests. Can I have an Escape Wedding?
We are sorry, but service quality issues require that we limit Escape Weddings to parties of twenty or fewer, including the bride and groom. If you would like to have more than twenty guests, we invite you to look into a Wishes Wedding.

Boo Hoo. Does anyone know for sure?

That wording has been on the website for ages. I confirmed with DFTW just last week that the "$500 for 5 extra guests" option is still available. :thumbsup2

thanks guys! appreciate it...

sending info off to brother tonight!:thumbsup2

I read someone's trip report about having everything at Fulton's Crab House. Anyone do something like that?

Thanks.

It is definately do-able, depending on what she wants.

Ours not including air, hotel, dress, shoes was under
10K.

I had : Escape ceremony @ Sea Breeze point for 23
Luncheon @ the attic with beer/wine for 25
Dessert Party in Epcot for 25
Bridal portraits in MK& Epcot

No characters, no carriage, no confetti cannons etc. and we used our own IPOD and docking station for music in the attic.

I'm sending yours as an example too. Thanks so much!!!

If you don't mind not having a reception/meal, you can have just the Escape ceremony which includes the cake cutting and toast (they'll even do a first dance and father/daughter dance) you can do it for $5k. And they even have small hors d'oeuvre platters at the cake cutting that you can add.

She'd still be getting a Disney Wedding :)

Do you know where I could find this info? Thanks so much! That would be GREAT.

I know there was an escape bride here who mentioned that she added a cheese and meat platter and crackers to her cake cutting. I don't remember who but I know when I was planning my escape this was mentioned to me. I'm sure a current escape bride could help you out. I just changed to a Wishes wedding so all my info is different.

We just returned from Orlando where we had 4 wedding site visits scheduled in 2 days. My daughter is marrying another former College Program participant she met while working at Disney last year. He is from Holland, so his family is spending a lot just to attend the wedding, and we will be sending three kids to college a week after the wedding. As much as we hated to do it, we had to admit that even a budget Disney Wishes wedding was out of the question. I was thrilled when Disney lowered the minimum expenditure to $10,000, but it was still about $3000 too much. We have a guest list of 50 people, so an Escape wedding was out. We visited Buena Vista Palace, Hotel Royal Plaza, and the Swan and Dolphin. I wanted my daughter and her fiance to like the Swan and Dolphin the best, but we were not able to see the reception space. And the staff was not helpful at all. We liked the wedding planner at the Hotel Royal Plaza(Bruce Granet), but none of us were impressed with the ceremony locations. For outside, it was a courtyard, and the inside location was a ballroom. The Hotel Royal Plaza was the best priced...the ceremony was not too expensive, and we were told catering would work within our budget for the reception. Now I don't know of anyone who has had a wedding there, but Mr. Granet seemed knowledgeable and nice. My daughter's wedding will be in August, so we had to consider both the outdoor ceremony location as well as the indoor/back-up location. My daughter liked both locations at Buena Vista Palace, and she loved the reception location...a space on the top floor of the hotel called "20seven". I asked a lot of questions on this board the last month, and spent MANY hours researching information(I am ashamed to tell how many hours). I can tell you that you DO NOT have to book the "package" offered by non-Disney hotels. They usually have a package put together for convenience, but it probably contains things you don't need. For example, when I was researching Swan and Dolphin, I realized we did not need the photography package or hotel room(s) for the family or the couple. So I contacted the wedding planner for just the ceremony(who was very nice), and would have booked the reception directly through catering. I am still a little disappointed my daughter decided not to have the wedding at the Swan/Dolphin...I already have my room booked at the Boardwalk. The price for the basic ceremony was @$1600; the reception can be anything you want. Most hotels do not charge for the reception space, but do have food and beverage minimums. For the Buena Vista Palace, we have to spend at least $3000 before service charges and taxes(and these charges are hefty, but they are standard everywhere you go). The wedding coordinator at Buena Vista Palace showed us several menu options, and we discussed what we could do to cut costs. The open bar is expensive, but my future son-in-law wanted to keep it, so we are cutting it down from 4 hours to just 2.5. We will serve sodas/juice/bottled water during the social hour, as most of the drinkers will be in after-ceremony pictures anyway. My daughter is still deciding whether to add the hotel's standard decor package (for $12 per person), or to just pay for the items she wants most(which would be $8 per person). Right now, our cost proposal is at about $6000 for an evening ceremony and plated dinner for 50 guests. That does not include the things I have already comitted to purchasing for the wedding: the dress, the cake, and the photographer. Buena Vista Palace allows us to order the cake from any local vendor and will not charge us to serve it(some hotels will not allow any outside food). I started out wanting the Disney wedding for my daughter(I even ordered the passporter wedding e-book), but found out I had other options if I just looked. My daughter and her fiance are happy with their choice; the ceremony locations are good, and they were very impressed with the view of Downtown Disney from the reception location. I am happy with the price, and can get over not being in the Swan/Dolphin and Boardwalk area. I like that the Regal Sun is located next door for families who want to stay close to the ceremony location for less money, and Saratoga Springs is right across the street. I am sorry I probably gave you more info than you needed...all you need to know is that you can have an "almost-Disney" wedding without breaking the bank. Your brother can give your niece a nice wedding and still have a little money left to buy diapers. :thumbsup2

I'm going to second/third the Buena Vista Palace. The staff has been more then helpful and have made sure to help stay on my budget. It's worth giving them a call and talking options. If you have any questions about it, please feel free to PM me about it. I don't mind sharing the info. I have.
Also as mention above, maybe consider a DCL wedding? I know they are cheaper then the DFTW.
Good Luck! :D
