Is there a way to get married for under $10k?

at WDW.

My niece is engaged. Budget is very tight. She's a huge Disney fan. I see the Escape Weddings are $5k for under 20. She'd probably be right at 20 if at WDW. Do people add a meal on their own or dessert party or what ideas have you done? I like the idea of the poly but you can only have 8 people. What's up with that? Yikes. She would love to be barefoot on a beach...

I've read the thread about budgets, but they're all $12k or more.

Thanks so much. I'd love to give some good ideas to my brother.

Right now, leaning towards Anna Maria Island or a beach in North Carolina that they enjoy. Trying to make it a fun vacation for everyone too.

:) Trish

I think you could easily have an Escape with a meal and dessert party for under $10,000. If she has an early wedding, she can have brunch for as low as $32 pp, and I think Dessert Party meals start around $22, but with the added venue fee.

It is definately do-able, depending on what she wants.

Ours not including air, hotel, dress, shoes was under
10K.

I had : Escape ceremony @ Sea Breeze point for 23
Luncheon @ the attic with beer/wine for 25
Dessert Party in Epcot for 25
Bridal portraits in MK& Epcot

No characters, no carriage, no confetti cannons etc. and we used our own IPOD and docking station for music in the attic.

Thank you both!

I couldn't find the dessert party listing. Is it on the wedding site?

Bridget. I'm off to read your planning. Thanks.

The attic looks great. Saw it on LuckyLu's posting [her $25k wedding].

Thanks.

Trish

Bridget....LOVED YOUR JOURNAL.

Beautiful pics. Thanks.

OK....

so technically they could do the ceremony....and then just the dessert party later?

Did you have to pay $90 for hiring Randy?

How many additional guests did you have? What is the standard? Thanks.

Your guest number seems right.

Love the cake too!

I'm thinking the Escape wedding...upgrade cake....some extra for flowers....then luncheon...$7500 OR
dessert party and viewing for fireworks.....$7k? I would treat and hire outside photographer. Because that's the one thing I hated about my wedding...my photographer.

other ideas? Thanks so much!

If you have a DP inside a park you will have to use Disney Photographers because outside vendors are not allowed at an in-park venue.

the resorts aren't considered inside park are they? thinking of sago cay at grand floridian if do dessert party [wishes]? the attic at boarwalk if brunch?

the disney website is so not helpful...
oy.

The standard # of guests is 18, we paid $500 to bump that up to 23.

Idon't think they charge the $90 for outside photographers anymore, but they do require you to use a disney photographer for any in-park events.

The only in park even we had was the dessertparty, so we had randy for the ceremony and then the Disney photographer that came with the package as 2nd who shot mostly photojournalistic pics and no photographer at all for the dessert party. The price was just too high for a disney photographer when I've seen the pics go from gorgeous to laughable. We ended up liking it that way though, because it allowed us to spend some quality time with our guests instead of having to pose for pictures.

Here is one of my favorites by the disney photographer at the ceremony as she was shadowing Randy:

No, the resorts aren't considered inside the park.

If you decide to do the DP in Epcot, you could still hire Randy ( or any outside photographer you like) for the ceremony/brunch/portraits around the resorts. But then you'd also have to hire a disney photographer for the DP since he wouldn't be able to photograph that part of the day.

No, the resorts and sago cay are considered outside. But if you have an Illuminations DP or Fantasmic DP that would be considered in park.

thanks guys....

I think it's just too expensive for my brother right now. She's also preggers and he's dealing with alot of that expense as well as they are youngish and not financially stable.

He's really hoping to stick around $5k. I think he'd get most bang for his buck with a beach wedding. Or even a pretty lake around us.

I'm still looking but I've spent 2 hours searching here [obviously not wanting to clean my house! LOL]

Thanks.

Trish

forgot to add...can't find any info on the attic pricing...can someone post a link?

BUT also wanted to say that with family alone we'd be close to 30 people so it's probably out...

Thanks for all the help.

Trish

I'm going to send luckyloo's breakdown just in case...since she had 34 people and it was $11k.....yikes.

If you don't mind not having a reception/meal, you can have just the Escape ceremony which includes the cake cutting and toast (they'll even do a first dance and father/daughter dance) you can do it for $5k. And they even have small hors d'oeuvre platters at the cake cutting that you can add.

She'd still be getting a Disney Wedding :)

try mouseweddings.com. The lady who writes it has some very good tips on how to save money on Disney weddings and even how to plan a reception at Disney restaurants if you are having an escape, which only allows you to have a cake cutting ceremony so you have to plan your own reception or dessert party and she gives could advice on how to do that. Good Luck!

You don't haveto plan your own reception as an escape bride. I was one,and Kathleen was super helpful in planning mine in The Attic. I think, if you go with a restaurant, THEN the planner hands you off to the restaurant staff for planning your meal. But otherwise, they help.

Oh, what I meant was the Escape weddings don't automatically come with receptions like the wishes weddings do and you have make arrangements to have a reception if you want, the planners do assist you with planning a reception add on if you desire, sorry I wasn't clear :goodvibes

:scared: I think you must have me confused with someone who is not a total cheapskate - our wedding cost half that! :rotfl:

The Attic has a food and beverage minimum of $1,000 for breakfast/brunch events and $2,500 for dinner.

Don't forget that the $11,000 we spent for 34 guests included a lot of extra stuff that your brother won't need, like a boat ride, a dessert party, and a $1,000 Magic Kingdom photo shoot. We also had a really elaborate cake and spent waaaay more than we wanted to on a stoopid soft drink and water package that we didn't need. :headache:

The actual price of our brunch was something like $32/person, and that includes punch and juice, so you don't really need to add anything.

If your brother did the the Escape package for $4,750 (which includes tax and service charge) and just added a brunch/lunch at the Attic for $1,000, with the tax and service charge on the meal you're looking at the entire wedding for $6,038.65 *and* they get two annual passes to the parks. :thumbsup2

We actually had a DCL wedding and loved it. The cost is slightly cheaper than Escape, but remember you would have the cost of the cruise on top of the ceremony fees.

http://disneyweddings.disney.go.com/weddings/cruise/collections/overview

Our final budget was about $12k, but this included everything from flights, hotel stay, non-cruise meals, dress, invitations, photography, you get the idea. ;)

Also check out the Swan and Dolphin or Buena Vista Palace at WDW if the budget gets stretched a little too far :goodvibes

LUCKYLOO...ThankYOU...

Initially I thought your wedding was with the others that seemed to hover around $25k but then I went back and read it and was THRILLED to see the price because you did a LOT for that budget. My wedding cost slightly less<$10k in Indy many moons ago....how I wish I knew this stuff then. LOL. We had more people but not that we ever talk to now. Ha ha.

Our problem is the Escape only goes to 20 people well I think you can pay $500 for extras but not sure how many extra.

Thanks...still looking into it.

Trish

oh no...

I think they did away with the $500 extra people fee.

I have 21 guests. Can I have an Escape Wedding?
We are sorry, but service quality issues require that we limit Escape Weddings to parties of twenty or fewer, including the bride and groom. If you would like to have more than twenty guests, we invite you to look into a Wishes Wedding.

Boo Hoo. Does anyone know for sure?
