We are here right now. I just posted in another thread about how my 7 year old daughter and my father are really sick... and it started at 2 am lastnight... all day they were ill. I read something briefly about a stomach virus going on at WDW...

If you have any info about a stomach virus going on here PLMK. We thought food poisoning but I am not sure.

Thank you.

I just got back today from Disney today. I didn't see anyone sick while I was there. But I could have missed it.

There is a virulent stomach bug(believed to be Norwalk virus) currently in Wdw as well as over the USA.People report that they are fine and then suddenly violently ill with vomiting and diarrhea that lasts anywhere from 8-12 hrs.Far too many people have been reporting it back for it to be food poisoning.

Tis the season. I am sorry anyone has to be sick anyway but especially at disney.

The stomach bug is alive and well at my house! Sorry you are experiencing it at Disney. Hopefully it will be over quick.

SIL is there this week, they got there Friday, and Saturday after lunch she got really sick and pushed on for a few hours before heading back to the hotel. She didn't know what it was b/c everyone ate at the same place, but she was the only one who got sick...maybe she picked up the bug.

We just got home from WDW Sunday night around 9:00 (after a 13 hour drive), and around 10:30 DD8 started vomiting. She was sick on and off through the night, felt bad the next day (Monday) and went back to school Tuesday. Tuesday night, DS9 started vomiting, also around 10:00 or 10:30 and also just at night. He stayed home yesterday. It was my turn last night but I feel decent this morning. I am hoping it's over in our house! So I assume we picked it up during the week at Disney, but I'm glad it didn't strike until we made it home. Hope your DD feels better

I don't think it's Disney. I was in for my annual check up yesterday and my doctor's nurses said a stomach bug is going nuts here in NW OH.

2 of my youngest son's friends have it right now.

Then to top it off DS12 is finishing up a round of antibiotics for pink eye.

We were in WDW for Thanksgiving, no one got sick. But DS7 had some stomach bug about 2 weeks before the trip.

This was our 3rd Thanksgiving trip and we also go in January, and luckily we haven't gotten sick on any of our trips.

We got back from Disney on Tues - DH, DFIL, DD, DD, DMIL were all vomiting and had diarrhea for most of our trip. MEMORIES!!

We got back late sunday night, after 10 days in the world...
Vomiting and Diarrhea started Monday with my 2 girls, 1 & 3, and is now working its way around to Daddy & Mommy.

Help us all! This thing has been nasty!!

Hope everyone gets to feeling better!

Sure is going around. My dd8 started with the virus at 8 Sat. night. Threw up on the bus back to Poly.. She proceeded to continue all night and all of Sunday. Sat. awas her bday and at least most of the day was great, however, getting home on the plane was no fun for anyone! It was awful not having the Lysol and windex to clean up. Not to mention doing laundry at 5am in the Poly. laundry. I figured if it was food poisioning, she would have been better after her body got rid of the bad food. Luckily, no one else has it yet:yay:

I have a small request of anyone traveling with the bug. PLEASE do not get on an airplane with it. The air there only rotates and you are spreading to everyone. My mother is not in the best health and has gotten sick several times after being on a plane. I know it cant always be to blame but last time the doctor actually blamed the plane ride. WHY would you ever get on a plane with a child who is throwing up so you can spread the flu and make everyone miserable? My neice has gotten sick before while visiting and the airlines would much rather you call and let them adjust your flight. Just a simple and I hope nice sounding request.

Hugs. I also hope you feel better soon.

It's winter at WDW, there is always something going around, sadly. Every year we travel there in December, someone ends up violently ill and a trip to a Florida doc.

Will they really do that, adjust your flight, just curious. I guess I never would have thought the airlines would be so accommodating. My kids always get sick after being on an airplane, just part of flying I guess......

It's more than likely all of us cold weather people who travel to Orlando who are bringing down viruses.

I second the encouragement to not fly if one is sick - I see this so often on these boards that we refuse to fly any longer. We would never got on a plane or cruise ship if sick most especially so as not to make others sick.

Healing hugs to you all who are ill, Tiger

They have changed flights in the past for my neice (more than once). If you tell them your kid is throwing up, I can tell you they much prefer to know and adjust. I would hate to know someone got on a plane knowing that their kids was going to throw up with all the passengers on there. Now, accidents happen. I do understand that!

stomach virus is extremely prevalent here in North GA. Many people are probably traveling to Disney and either intentionally or unintentionally bringing it. WHen I am at Disney I always have a bottle of purel hanging from my backpack to use and I also carry indivdual antibacterial wipes. Hand washing is great, but if the water is not hot it will not kill the germs, plus they live longer in wet environments so grabbing paper towels and turning off sink etc can recontaminate you. I also bring a can of lysol and lysol everything that we might touch as soon as we walk in the room. Don;t know if it helps but it has made me feel better, I have had one child in hospital with Rotovirus and a staph infection before and I have a weakened immune system from meds I take, so I am overly precautious. I am glad to hear it is not rotovirus going around downthere as it can last a week and often hospitalizes small kids. SO sorry sick at Disney. I got pneumonia there a few years ago( I had a weakened immune system at the time.) Certainly changes the trip.

Our baby caught rotavirus, plus strep (which is not common in infants at all), plus a host of other things while at WDW in March '04 @ 20 months old. We all had very extensive physicals just days before going and all bloodwork came back very healthy, so based on incubation and symptoms the pediatric specialists at Arnold Palmer in Orlando, in consultation with our ped was absolutely convinced that our baby caught it all at WDW. We are beyond vigilant with handwashing, etc., but we must have missed something and she became deathly ill. It was very scary with her being in hospital for a couple of days while we were alone at WDW as our family is from Canada. We had a very long drive home, but hospital discharged us based on the fact that we had all hospitals marked down I-75 and they called to check up on us on our cell phone during the drive down. Our baby was sick for weeks! She was actually misdiagnosed at the horrible Centra Care Clinic on SR535 - doc told us that she could go to parks. We told him that that was good job protection for him, as this is a way to keep spreading germs around, but that is probably how our baby got sick in first place since some other child or children passed the viruses on to her. We stayed isolated at Wildnerness Lodge for days, but ended up at emerg as she took a bad turn.

We found out from the ped team that rota and strep peak in Feb/March, and so we won't ever go to WDW in March until kids are way older. As well, we won't ever go at this time of year either as too many sick people at parks.

This time of year is not good for sicknesses but everyone's determination to go to parks, ride monorails, buses and planes while sick just adds to the problems.

Happy health to all, Tiger
