Is we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, would we be able to attend the evening campfire program at Fort Wilderness and would a shuttle be around to take us back over to the lodge?

Thanks,
DJ

I'm fairly certain the campfire is open to any WDW Resort guest.

You can take a boat to FW - I'm not sure about a direct bus.

You could visit the "Camping at WDW" board on this site to get a lot more information about Ft. Wilderness...

I don't know of any shuttle, but you should be able to take a boat to FW from WL, and then switch to a bus at FW to take you to the Meadow Trading Post, near the place where the campfire is held. No matter how you arrive at FW (personal car, bus or boat) you will still need to take the internal bus there to get to the campfire. This is not hard to do, but do check the maps posted at the stops to be sure you board the correct bus. The program is low-key and enjoyable - be sure to get a s'more kit (these were $5 for a family-sized amount of fixings a few years ago).

There is still a bus that runs from the WL to the Settlement Depot (That is where Pioneer hall and the marina is). You will need to hop off and take an orange Outpost bus to get to the campfire which is in the middle leg of the campground roads. You can actually walk there from the bus stop if you don't mind short walk. It's probably only a quarter of a mile to the campfire from the settlement.

My kids really enjoyed taking the boat over to FW and then taking a bus to the campfire. They really loved all the Disney boats even if we were only on them for a minute.

We did take the bus on the way back to WL, however. When we left the campfire it was quite busy and rather than wait for a bus to get back to the boat ramp we caught the one to take us to WL.

We still talk about how much fun the campfire was and I almost didn't want to go.

Have fun

After taking the boat or bus from VWL to Fort Wilderness, there is only a short walk to the campfire program. If you or your children are tired, then the internal bus is available.
