Is there a service like Dave's for transfers?

I am not sure Dave's rental service actually facilitates transfers.

Is there a third party service like Dave's that handles transfers vs. rentals?

As an owner, I would rather take a transfer to manage my own reservation and I would rather do a transfer to get paid upfront and not have anything to do with a third party reservation once I am paid. In essence, I think transfers would work better for owners vs. rentals but a third party to "manage the process" and vet both parties would be reassuring. They could also act like an escrow service to hold the money until both parties have confirmed the process complete.

To reply to my own thread, I just read it is against DVC rules to pay for a transfer. I am guessing that is why no third party service exists.

Oh well, it appears to be a peer to peer process. I find that a little uncomfortable.

Timeshare store will do transfers
I signed up for the emails about new contracts and they rent and do transfers.

Thanks. That is great! I have dealt with them in the past around a possible resale and it never crossed my mind they would get involved in transfers.

My suggestion is to read up on transfers before you do it. There are pros and cons. For instance, I will not get points for a resort I own unless it is the same UY. It's just not worth the hassle.

You are right. The more I am reading the more pain I am seeing. I particularly do not like not seeing the points possibly in my account and relying on CMs that might not handle it right either. Top that with "make sure you do not mention money" and it feels like I am trying to do a drug deal and not reserve a room for a vacation. I am not big on non-disclosure. We like to play by the rules.

So much for thinking this would be cleaner then renting!

Despite the rules, if you can find your resort and UY it can be a painless process. I have had points transferred to our account twice. Within minutes the points were available in my account online and ready to use. No issues or awkward questions by MS. The first time I was not on the phone, second time I was. Easy peasy!

To me, a transfer is cleaner both ways. If you are getting points, you now control them. If you are selling the points, you get rid of the liability of a renter. Transferred my points in 96 hours after posting for sale on the DIS last fall.

What I want is a way to trade transfers. I have been trying to figure out how I could set up some sort of exchange so both parties benefit with an 11 month advantage at a non home resort

The one transfer per year rule pretty much makes this impossible in the same UY for the same 2 members...unless both have 2 separate contracts!

I think it could work if one person was a compulsive long range planner. (Looking in a mirror.) As long as at least one party wanted to take a trip that was eligible for travel on points in the next UY, you could swap current UY for the following UY. If both parties were compulsive like me, one of them would have to bank the transferred points into the next UY. This gets both trips into the following UY
