Is there a reduced rate for hitting the Park the last hour or so?

After flying in Wed the park will only be open a few hours. Is there a reduced rate for that or is it a no go!

Thanks

no, there is not half day/evening only type rate.
However, depending on how many days you are planning on being in the parks, adding an extra day could be as little as $5- $10

I think you can get an hour shopping pass... not sure how it works, but someone will probably chime in... then you could at least get a taste of the park.

My brother and I wanted to head over to DL in the last 2 hours in August and we had to pay the full amount, we decided the wait till the next morning!

I once payed full admission to DCA (I believe it was $53.00 at the time) ten minutes before it closed. I watched the Electric Light Parade and then left. It is one of my all time favorite parades. However it has been discontinued...

I came back the next day and enjoyed rides at both parks until noon and then off to the airport. Very worth it to me...

I think the cheapest way if your going to be there for a few hours is to park in the DTD parking where you get 3? hours free

Imagineer Alice Davis told a story at the Destination D conference about taking her neice to DL many years ago, before she worked for WED but while she was engaged to Marc. They arrived less than a hour before closing and DL would not even sell entrance tickets that late in day. Her neice was heading back to NY the next morning, so Alice managed to sneak with her neice into the Park by backing up through the exit turnstiles! {No, this is no longer possible] She said they enjoyed their short visit but she never told Marc about it in fear that the wedding would be cancelled. This may have been the first time Marty Sklar had heard the story, as he suggested that the admission figures for DL needed to be increased by 2! -- Suzanne

I guess no one really wants to have the parks flooded for the last few hours. Think I may just add 1 day to my 3 day hopper or maybe just enjoy the GCH and Downtown Disney. Maybe a massage or something!!!

YIPPEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Not to be a party pooper, but sometimes I feel annoyed that Disney never really gives you a "real" break $$$$. They are for sure a money making business. I often wonder how things would be if Walt had lived longer.......sigh.... what rides would there be?, etc, etc!

I hear what you're saying and agree somewhat. However, It would be a mistake for Disney to offer reduced admission in the last hours. So many of the events that attract the crowds such as fireworks, parades, WOC happen in the last hours. There would be a huge crowds coming in at reduced prices for these events if they did this.

i don’t find it really great to pay 70 some dollars to go in the park for an hour and then leave. .. that is a waste of money I think . I would if I was the OP just wait till the next day.

It was a pass that you could get for a certain amount and use it for just one hour(or two hours) before the park closes to shop, but I’m sure it was used to watch parades and ride a few attractions also!

Well now I'm wondering how it was enforced? Was it only available during certain times or toward the end? It's an open question to anyone but I think I'll do a little Googling :surfweb:!

I believe they took your credit card information at the time they issued you the shopping pass. If you were late returning, you were charged full price admission for one day.

Thanks. Turns out there's lots of info online. Found this: http://disney.families.com/blog/disney-theme-park-secret-the-shoppers-pass

So yes, they would swipe your credit card and refund your money if you returned within the hour. Otherwise you would be charged for one full Day.

OP, there IS a half-day convention ticket if you are going through a convention.

It was not for just the hours before the Park closed. It gave you one hour (to the minute) to go in, shop, and return. They took a credit card number and if you were not back in time, you were charged a full price one day park ticket. I believe it was discontinued in 2008. People abused it BIG time.

That's true if you're only doing one day...but remember that the price difference between a 4 day and a 5 day is $10. So in essence if OP were alreadying buying a 4 day and wanted to go for a few hours the night they arrive, upgrading to a 5 day would cost $10 and they'd get their few hours.

The difference between a 5 day and a 6 day is even less, about $5.

The difference between a 3 and 4 is a little higher at $25 but still a more reasonable price for a few hours.

If you don't really want to do that though, remember there is a lot of fun to be had just wandering around Downtown Disney with the shops and restaurants. It's not the park, but it is still a wonderful way to get a little pixie dust stirring around you and definitely more fun than sitting in a hotel room!
