Is there a reason for three boat stops in one spot?

Anyone who has ever stayed at the BC, BW, Swan or Dolphin is aware that there are three boat stops. It's usually quicker to get off at the first boat stop and walk rather than wait for the boat to actually "stop" at your resort.

Is Disney required to have three stops? Wouldn't it make sense to have ONE stop (with more frequent service, of course) between the two Disney resorts, where the Swan and Dolphin join?

Am I alone in thinking it would make the boat rides a lot quicker?

You have to remember there are those who cannot walk long distances. For those who don't mind walking, you can just walk the whole way rather than taking the boat.

I agree, I have mobility issues and I like the three stops. I would be very upset to be at the BWI and have to walk down to the Swan and Dolphin to catch a boat.

I don't think the boats were ever meant to be a quick means of transport. As mentioned already, those in a hurry are better off walking.

IMHO, the boats are an attraction all by themselves - a nice, relaxing ride and not something I want to wait for if I am in a hurry to get somewhere - no matter how many stops there are.

Last summer my son and i raced the boat back to Beach club. We won by a good ten minutes. The captian was cheering my son on telling him he was going to hit the turbo to beat him. This is not a fast means of transport but DW and DD like the slow ride.

I totally agree with this. just like the song (SLOW RIDE) we love it

Only ride the boat if you have mobility issues or you are in the mood for a leisurely ride. Otherwise you will just be getting annoyed with how slow you are going. Some afternoons while DH and DS1 are napping DD6 and I will just ride the boat loop a couple of times. It is very relaxing and the captains are extremely friendly.

All Disney transportation is tedious and slow!! The boats, the busses, the Ferry, even the Resort monorail makes a heap of stops before dropping you at Epcot or MK.

That said, I think the transportation is the most fun part of WDW. I love riding the slow boats, its a luxury not to have to be anywhere fast. That's why we dont make alot of ADR's. Too much like work.

Many BWV boatriders, will get off on the first stop SD and walk over. If not they stay on and stop at BC and then BW is the last stop.

Well, it looks like I'm the only person to think my great idea is a great idea!

Seems to me one stop would make not only for a shorter ride, but also a much shorter wait to get on a boat. But I'm clearly a minority of one on this issue, so thanks for the comments.

Somehow I can just picture you going from boat ride.....to bus.....to monorail....to bus....to monorail.....whew, what a great day at WDW that was!!

Just teasing you...the comment struck me as a bit funny. I do agree that Disney does an amazing job getting so many thousands of people transported around WDW every day. They could teach most cities' mass transit authorities a thing or two! And of course the drivers/captains do a great job as well in making a repetitious job fun.

You know Granny!! If Dh and the boys would let me, that would be a great itinerary! I would cancel my cruise for that! LOL! I'd need some Beringer though!

boy I thought about this and could you imagine the line at say YC/BC lighthouse waiting for a boat , standing on the dock in the sun in even 80 degree heat. you think getting on a bus with a line of people waiting is tough, I bet on the dock with the pushing to get out of the somebody might end up in the lake

And when I'm going from MGM to Epcot I just get off at S/D or YC and hoof it over. But I usually like rest the boat trip provides.
