Good Day All! I am posting this question for my sister-in-law. They are going to WDW in Jan of 2008. Her 9 yr old son, my newphew, really enjoys his heelys. He is very good at controling them and well-behaved.

Does anyone know if there is a policy on heelys in the parks or not???

Thanks!!! :thumbsup2

Not Allowed. and because there are kids using them anyway does NOT change that.
Not allowed means not allowed

You should be able to find it on the official Disney site.
Heelys are considered to be same as rollerskates (and such), which are prohibited.

This is a very hot topic on these boards. I'd run now if I were you. ;)

Funny! :rotfl: Thanks for the advise.

I've been looking on the Disney site and cannot find a policy on this. If anyone does see one, could you post the link or the text? Thanks!!!

Does anyone know if that policy is listed in writing somewhere?
Here's some helpful info, can't put the link here.
"Heelys"-type footwear (shoes with retractable wheels under the heel) are most definitely not allowed in the parks or resorts. The only exception for use of wheeled footwear is on the paths of Fort Wilderness Campground. They're not allowed anywhere else on Disney property. I don't understand why some Cast Members aren't enforcing this rule, but be assured, it definitely is the rule. The rule is in place to ensure guest and Cast safety, and Cast is taught that safety is the number one "Key" to good guest service.
Other types of wheels that should not be used in the parks or resorts (with the exception of Fort Wilderness Campground) are: bicycles, tricycles, unicycles, wagons, Razor-type scooters, skateboards, roller skates or inline skates. Segways are not allowed either, unless in use by Disney Cast Members.
Wheels that are allowed in the parks: strollers, wheelchairs, motorized wheelchairs and electric conveyance vehicles (ECVs).
Bottom line: If it's not on the short list above, please leave the wheels at home.

Can you say where that info came from? I'd just like to have my "all my ducks in a row" when I tell my sister in law that they are not allowed... Thanks!

From the FAQ on Disney's park page (link below):

Q. Are there any personal items I should not bring with me into the Theme Parks?

A. Items that you may not bring into the Theme Parks include, but are not limited to:

Items with wheels, such as wagons, skateboards, scooters, inline skates, shoes with built-in wheels, two-wheeled or three-wheeled conveyances, strollers larger than 36" x 52", suitcases, coolers, or backpacks with or without wheels larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (coolers required for medication may be stored in a locker or at Guest Relations), and any trailer-like object that is pushed or towed by an ECV wheelchair or stroller
Alcoholic beverages
Weapons of any kind
Folding chairs
Glass containers (excluding baby food jars and perfume bottles)
Pets (unless they are service animals)
In Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park (for the safety of the wildlife), balloons, straws and drink lids are not permitted.

Should be the last question on the page.

Fantastic!!! Thanks to all for your help. Thanks for the link. I will send it over to my SIL right away!!! :flower3:

when i went last feb. Most kids were wearing them i remember going to the parks before heeleys even came out and everyone did just fine walking. I think that if they are able to control themselves they should be able to wear them this excludes the child that ran into me when i was eating an ice cream cone it ended very badly

The first opinion of the day, run and cover....:rotfl2: Ether very brave or very.....;)

Second opinion coming up.
I hate the things and i can't see the need for them in a theme park.If you are on your feet all day in them they must become uncomfortable and at times dangerous.

Oh no, not this subject again. This is liable to be a long thread like the last one.

I would NEVER let my children wear these at WDW or any public place for that matter. The CMs need to crack down on the rude children and the parents who let them wear them. They are just an accident waiting to happen.

I disagree, i mean seriously, let your children have some fun. ONLY let your children wear them if they know how to control them. Some parents let their children wear them and they don't even know how to ride. It is only an accident waiting to happen if the children didn't know how to ride. What's the point of wearing Heely's if they can't wear them in any public place? That's basically, saying, I bought these for no reason.
I let my child wear them in Target, and other stores. If they aren't prohibited, then let them wear them.
