Is there a non-buffet character meal?

I'm wondering if there are any character meals that aren't buffets or the all-you-can-eat type "family style" meals (ie Liberty Tree, Ohana's breakfast, etc)?

Well, Cindy's Royal Table isnt a buffet, but it is still an all you care to eat pre plated.

Thank you both. I thought this was the case, but just wanted to see if I was overlooking some place. With DS now 3, character meals are great for the characters, not so with actually the eating part of it.

:dance3:

Is CRT considered family style where they just bring a big plate and everyone picks off it or do you have individual plates with food? Not that it matters, I guess I thought it was less family style then the others..

Not sure, what I was trying to figure out is if there were any character meals where you actually order a meal, instead of it being more of an all-you-care-to-eat type place. Because DS3's version of AYCE is taking a bit of a chicken strip, drinking a chococlate milk, and maybe eat a bit of ice cream. He just gets so distracted, and then 10 minutes after we leave, he wants to eat. So I was thinking at a non-AYCE he could just be distracted, and box his meal to go to eat later on.

Wanted to also say something I found a bit funny. The pre-plated would be family style for me. The first time my DW (at the time my DGF) came to my home to eat, I didn't think anything about it when my mom, like she always had, brought us each our plate with our food already on it. After we left, DW made a comment about it, asking if my mom always did that, and I said yes, not thinking anything of it. She then asked if my mom thought we were all still 5 years old. Probably had to do with how my mom was brought up, and that wasting food was a near unforgiveable sin. To this day, I find it very difficult not to clear my plate completely, even if I'm full or don't care for what I'm eating. I guess my stature reflects that also.

:lmao:

Gotcha! :thumbsup2

Almost sounds like either you get to find the characters out and about, or look at it more as you are paying for the characters, and not the meal :). I'm sure you've probably already figured that part out though. I have a feeling LOTS of kids and even adults dont really 'eat' at the character meals between just watching what else is going on, taking pictures, meeting the characters and all that fun stuff :yay:

Watching a DVD that my niece made of her kids last winter at WDW and more times then not the kids (and grandma) were MUCH more interested in the happenings then the meal.. But that's OK too IMO, it looked like they were having a BLAST and loving it:cloud9:

Yeah, I don't mind paying for it as it's a unique experience that he seems to enjoy, as do I, watching him. Last year we went to Restaurantosaurus for the character breakfast. All he did was drink some of his milk. The CM noticed this, and told us it was okay to take some fruit, dry cereal, bagel, etc. as the little kids do get so distracted that they kind of forget about eating.

. . . DS3's version of AYCE is taking a bit of a chicken strip, drinking a chococlate milk, and maybe eat a bit of ice cream . . .

1) Now, you see the madness to the method.
2) They can charge more money for buffets or AYCE meals.
3) So, even if kids eat a little, the profit is made.
4) Plus, if they allowed menu items, people could order less.
5) Theoretically, $15 for the whole table, PLUS you get characters.
5) This would be a major drain on revenue.

I feel your pain. My DS3 eats 3 bites of his chicken finger, 4 french fries and 3 spoonfuls of icecream at character meals. In August we booked Grand Floridian Cafe. It's a pre-plated meal, so at least they will be entertained and not have to get up every 5 minutes to dash to the buffet.

I know, I know, and the Disney shareholder me, should be appalled that the Disney economic diner me, would even be thinking of this.

Really though, just trying to figure out a way to have my DS eat that I don't have to pay twice for the same meal. Once during the character meal, and then the same meal that he now is hungry for 10 minutes afterwards.
