Reason being tonight our lil one started vomiting and Im just wondering if we get there and he is "blah" is there a place on site or near the resort to take him to have him checked?

He has not shown signs of sickness all week.

There are nurses within the park staffing first aid stations, but this isn't what you'll need. You have three other options for medical care @ WDW (i've used two of the three):

1) The closest emergency room is Celebration Hospital

2) You can go to a walk in clinic (there is one close to DTD - the front desk staff at your resort can give you their phone number. I believe they are open until midnight (8pm on weekends). They will pick you up at your resort, and drop you off after the Dr sees you. http://www.centracare.org/lbv.php

3) You can call a Dr to make a house call @ your resort

The fastest options (in terms of service) are 1 and 2.

Yes calling a doctor to the room is expensive. Last december our 6 year old son woke up the 2nd screaming in pain and with an extremely high fever. I called our pediatrician at home (figured it was ear infections). he was worried that it may something more since he ridden on several rides earlier in the day and wanted him to be seen by a phyician. After the conversation with our Dr. we freaked out worrying it may be something serious. I went down to the hotel desk (mind you this wall all at about 4:30 AM). to discuss our options of what to do. Within minutes there were paramedics at our hotel room to assess the situation to see of it was emergent and if he needed to be immediatly transported to the hospital.
Thankfully it all turned out to be double ear infections with perforated ear drums! We had a doc come to the room. She prescribed everything necessary (actually had it on her) including some pain med. Which definitly came in handy for the flight home. It wound up costing about $300. But we were able to submit it to our insurance when we got home (although they only reimbursed us $75).

I was amazed at how quick the doctor came to the room, she was there at 6:30. we were told that the walk-in clinic would not be open intil 9am and would have taken several hours to be seen.

Two years ago, we were staying at the Dolphin. Both my kids got sick at different times, first my son late in the evening. He had a fever and was feeling very bad - I called the front desk, and they gave me the number of a clinic that sends the doctors to your room.

Two doctors came to our room (one was training to work at the clinic, but they were both docs). They brought all kinds of tests that one would assume would be common problems (had to test him for the flu as there was concern everywhere about that avian flu). He had an ear infection, which was funny, he hadn't had one in years. Also he was wheezing (he has asthma). They gave me the antibiotics and were in and out in little over an hour.

It was a Godsend! They gave me all the forms to turn into our insurance company (I think the bill was about $400 total, but some of it was an extra $50 or so for it being after midnight). I couldn't believe that my insurance company, and HMO, reimbursed us for everything!

Then two days later, DD is running a fever (really high also). I called the same clinic, and she had strep throat. Same great service!

If you need that, just ask the front desk, they go to all the Disney hotels. It was way better than driving them somewhere (with fevers and DD vomited also) plus I didn't have a car.

Even if I wasn't reimbursed, it would have been worth it. In the few times we've had to use the ER here at home, it always takes them a while, plus this way the kids could be resting in bed while we waited.

I agree Happymommy... so worth it. Becuase when you are travelling, away from home and so darned tired ...it is the fastest way to be seen and to put your mind at ease. Sure beats losing a whole day waiting to be seen in an ER or clinic! They provide you with all of the necessary paperwork nd ICD-9 codes to submit to your insurance.
Good Luck!

:goodvibes I forgot to mention how great Disney was for the remainder of our trip. The Haitian Mousekeeper was wonderful and fumigated our room when we finally got out of it! She even said a prayer for him!

Also, we had a difficult time getting him to take the meds. They actually sent Goofy to the room to try and persuade him to be more reasonable with the meds!! But in the long run the only thing that actually worked was bribery of being able to go the arcade (of all places) if he took the medicine!
It was a rough trip needless to say...we all missed out on so much. But thankfully he recovered. If it wasnt for the presribed pain meds from the 'Rent--a-Doc' he never would have tolerated the plane flight home.

Oh yeah - I just remembered. I had housekeeping come (when DD was diagnosed with strep) that evening and the lady changed all our linens for me! I gave her a nice tip, and she at first wanted to refuse it! I wanted to get as many germs out of the room as possible. I know it probably didn't make that much of a difference, but made me feel better!
