Is there a direct bus from DHS to Disney Springs, or do we have to go to a resort first?

1. Nope.
2. Yes. I recommend going to Saratoga Springs.
Exit the bus at Congress Park stop and walk over the foot bridge to DS.

Alternate to Robo's suggestion: Take the boat to the Swolphin and then the bus to DS.

Robo's correct (of course!). There are no busses that go to and from Disney Springs and the theme parks. That's because people used to take advantage of the free parking at DS (previously Downtown Disney) to avoid paying the parking charge for the theme parks; they would just park at DS and take the buses. It's too bad - it ruined it for everyone else!

We found this out the hard way in 2011. We had reservations at TREX and figured we could just ride over from DHS real quick (bahahaha). Took us forever to figure out that the bus we were waiting for would never come . Back then I guess we were still light weights considering we didn't think to go to a closer resort to transfer over. We rode the bus all the way back to POP and then took another one to DTD. Needless to say, we were really REALLY late for our ADR, not to mention sweating after being dropped off at the wrong end and running like maniacs across the ginormous parking lot with 2 kids and a stroller. Good times....
