We have stayed at the Hotel Royal Plaza in Downtown Disney on a couple of occasions when there was no good rate at a hotel on property. It is a decent hotel and we have found some good rates on Mouse-savers.
Today Mouse-savers said there were special rates at HRP so I checked DD's Spring break dates in April. WOW! Rooms were $179 a night. Last time we were there, in July 2006, on a last minute trip, a deluxe tower room was less than $100.
Has anyone else noticed this? Did they have a big jump in their room rates?
Thanks,

Penny

I've noticed the rates have been much higher since the renovation. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at HRP again but like you, I wouldn't want to pay over $100 per night --- and I would also hope this rate would include the free breakfast that Mousesavers has offered in the past!

I imagine they are having a hard time keeping a full hotel with the rates they are trying to charge! ;)

Just saw this post...it's from a while back, but thought I'd chime in.

I got a rate of $79 from Hotwire. Of course, I didn't know what hotel it was until I booked it. With tax, etc... it came to about $95 total...don't have the receipt in front of me.

So, I guess I got a fairly good deal, considering what I see them charging now.

Today's Mousesavers newsletter has a last night free if you stay at least four nights deal. I put in our dates just to see what I could get. A standard room was $97, so including tax and resort stay the four nights would be $336. You do have to pay it in full, but could cancel up to a few days before arrival.

I'm thinking this would be a decent place to stay when we take my son down for the College Program. I'll have trouble talking my DH into staying off-site, but I suspect we're looking at three-four trips while DS is there. I was thinking we would spend the bulk of our $ on passes the first trip, then have DS to make his discounted on-site reservations for the subsequent ones.

We love to use Disney transportation exclusively, but we drive so the van is with us. How do you who've stayed at Royal Plaza get to the parks?
