Is there a big difference in price between moderate and deluxe?

We booked the FTP for POR, but Ive heard so much about the Poly and have also heard great things about the contemporary. We are a family of 5 and I think paying aprox $2000 for our 7 nights at the moderate w/the unlimited hopper passes was an excellant deal. It is our first on site stay at WDW. Im not sure when we will be able to come back again, and want to have the best possible experience. So I was wondering how much the difference would be to upgrade to deluxe and if it would be worth it.

It would probably be double for the Polynesian. The regular room rate for POR in value season is $133, Poly is $299 (plus tax). A garden room at the Contemporary would be less, the regular room rate is $239. The UPH part would be the same.

The main draw of the monorail resorts is the convenience of being close to MK. The rooms are a little larger. Deluxes do not have food courts, they have a snack bar.

Hi!!! First decide which resorts would interest you. AKL and WL would be out , unless you wanted a deluxe room . Call Disney and see what the price difference is. I think the deluxes are worth the extra$$$$ for all of the amenities and ambience. The Poly is one of the more expensive deluxes. The Contemporary and Epcot resorts would be in the middle, with the Contemporary being less$$.
You would have much more room in the actual room. Good luck making your decision!

DW and I are staying at the Polynesian from 10/1 - 10/8, and are paying approx $2700 for the 7 night FTP. Note: that's value rate, because value season ends 10/1, and that's two adults only.

I think it depends on what time of year you are going. We recently went in February. We made ressies through Dreams to leave on Thursday, well Thursday started peak season. My dreams rep notified me if I could fly out a day earlier I could save $800 dollars. We flew out a day earlier. 7 nights at the Poly Garden view room with an AP rate. I paid $1393 and change, taxes included.

I have an AP the rest of the family had hopper passes.

I think you will have a wonderful vacation if you stay at POR. I haven't stayed at a deluxe but have stayed at all the moderates and had great times at all of them.

I truly feel like I have escaped from the world when I stay at the moderate resorts. Staying a deluxe I am sure is nicer but you do have great theming, the boat to DTD, carriage ride, entertainment right at POR.

You will have a magical time at Disney no matter where you stay on property.

We are also a family of five staying at the BC concierge in Nov. I have the original price quote from our CM for our trip (7 days and our first booking date was Oct 13-20th) This will show you the difference in prices Our family is 2 adults a 15, 12 and 9 year old.

POR 2,145
POLY 2,918
BC 2,851
YC 2,851
Comp 2,561
GF 3,099

We decided to upgrade to the concierge at the BC because with the great deal will felt we could afford to pamper ourselves.

We stayed at the Poly in 1999 and loved it. It was our first WDW trip with our kids and I was so glad that we choose the deluxe resort it was beautiful and of all our WDW vacations the one our kids remember the fondest. If you can afford it I would definitely recommend the POLY you won't be disappointed. That being said POR is also a beautiful resort and the only downfall for me is the double beds and the small trundle bed (my DH and DS are 6'3 and 6'4 we need space and the deluxe rooms are bigger. By the way FYI when we made our first rip in 1999 we paid 3,800 for our room and tiks so you can see the FTP is really a great deal. Hope this helps and have a magical trip.

:D

Hi,

Without codes, I truly don't think the significant price increase between a moderate and a deluxe is worth it. The Deluxes are beautiful and fun to visit to eat, shop, walk around, and rent bikes and boats. But, I don't think they're worth the full rack rate when compared to what you get at the Moderates at the Moderate price.

Having said all that, we're doing an all-Deluxe vacation this summer
 but, we're doing so, at discounted rates. Since we always get a car (this is where I would spend the extra money), I'm sure we'll end going to go visit the Moderates which feel like home. :D

Our last two visits to WDW we stayed at POR. We loved it. This trip we decided to upgrade to WL. Then the FTP came along and we upgraded even more to the Polynesian. We are going for 8 nights/9days in August. It is considered value season for the deluxes. It will be two adults, one child. The package is costing us $2496. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at POR again. We are probably having our last 'family' trip next month and my dd has wanted to stay at the Polynesian so we're splurging!!

I think it really depends on how old your kids are and if you are planning on spending alot of time at your resort. We stayed at POR for our first trip with kids (then 7, 5 & 4) and loved it. We were not in the room much and the kids were little. Our second trip in Dec. 2002 the kids were a little older (9, 7, & 6) and we decided to upgrade to the Polynesian because I got a great AP Rate (and it was always a dream of mine to stay there).

Our next trip will be this Nov. The kids will be (10, 8 & 7) and we will welcome the extra space of the rooms at the Polynesian. Since our APs are already paid for from our last trip and I booked the room at the Come Back rate, we decided to try concierge (probably the only time we will ever be able to afford this). Since it is our third trip we are planning on spending more relaxing time at the resort and less running in the parks this trip.

So, I would say if your kids are young and you will basically be using your room to sleep, stay with POR. Otherwise, I have been spoiled and if you can swing it go for the deluxe.
