Is there a beach within Disney World?

I have been reading the posts in the Trip Reports board and they keep mentioning a beach at one of the Disney Resorts. Is this possible? My family and I were planning a drive to Cocoa Beach which I hear is about a 45 minute drive. But if we go to a beach right there in Disney World I'll save the drive time and go there.

Some of the Disney resorts have sand beaches, but they aren't on the ocean, and you can't swim in the water (lagoon or lake).

So if you want to swim & see the ocean, you'll have to take a day trip!

yes, Cocoa is the closest 'real' beach with waves and Ocean. WDW 'beaches' that I know of are manufactured poolside sandy areas.

Don't forget Typhoon Lagoon---sandy beach area at the wave pool.
