I have seen pictures of a balloon drop at the Golden mickey after party. The reason I am asking is we have a member of the family that is really afraid of balloons popping. If anybody knows the answer please let us know.
I have "never" seen a balloon drop on any of the ships. As far as I know, you aren't even allowed to bring a balloon onto the ship. If you come from the parks with one, I have seen posted that they confiscate it.

I know I've seen pictures of balloons dropping in the Atrium, but those were from the more special longer cruises, haven't seen or heard about it in a while either

They did not have one on either of our two recent cruises on the Dream. I'm very empathetic to your situation! Our DS is super hyper-sensitive to balloons popping, fireworks, etc. He freaks if he even SEES a balloon, for fear it will pop!
I am glad that you brought this up. A balloon drop could mean certain death for me as I am extremely allergic to latex. My kids are terrified by balloons because they have seen me go into anaphylactic reactions in the past!
Reminds me that I need to verify that latex gloves aren't used to clean the cabin or prepare food!
It is sad that something so cool could be so sad for many!
