:rotfl: DS,4, got Candyland for Christmas. I have played about 5 games a day since Christmas. The upside is I have a 4 year old who can play a board game without cheating and has learned to take losing without any tears. The bad thing is I am sick of it!!!!!!!! As soon as one game is finished he looks at me and pleads, "One more game please???" Sometimes my seven year old will play, BUT, only if I play as well. DH will only play if I am playing.

My poor son wakes up and the first thing he asks is, "Can we play Candyland?" I have to set a timer so he knows when it is time to play so I can get some work finished. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sorry, had to vent. I just got suckered into two more games.

Yeah, buy him Chutes and Ladders! :rotfl2:

Funny you should mention that. He got that one last year and never really took to it all that well. He just wanted to play with the spinner. He got the concept of the ups and downs, he just didn't have the patience for it. All I know is HE LOVES HIS CANDYLAND.

:rotfl: Consider yourself lucky. We got the DVD version for Christmas and DS,6, wants to play every night. There are 3 different games - all involving on-your-feet-participation. This Candyland is an aerobic activity! :faint:

Yes, I saw that one in the stores, but as a seasoned mother of 3, I avoided buying that one like the plague! :rotfl:

I feel your pain-I got DD4 the Dora Candyland game and I've played it a ton. It gets mind numbing after awile!! DH won't play with her so it's all me. My mom will play but she doesn't come over too often. EEK!

Try Uno for kids. DD is addicted to this and I don't mind playing it. A two person game usually goes pretty quickly.

I feel your pain--I'm not a mom, but an aunt of 13. I've played more games of Candyland then I care to remember.

Sign me up for that 12 step and then find me one for Memory, Clue Jr, Uno, Scrabble Jr and Monopoly Jr too! I got off easy tonite with only playing twice (the Monopoly takes FOREVER though). Oh well, they are only little once - or so I keep telling myself during the umpteenth round of kiddie games. :)

I keep telling myself he is the last one, and sometimes I think back to when I played with my oldest child. Just when I start to get sentimental, I remind myself I still have at least a year or two left to play this with ds, and then in another 12-14 years I will be playing again with grandkids! My oldest will be 14 this summer, so it could happen! With the spread of my kids I could be playing Candyland until I die! :rotfl2:

Oh the Candyland addictions! I taught preschool for a while, and my class of 3 year olds LOVED Candyland. Sometimes when it was too cold or rainy to go outside they would play game after game after game after game of Candyland. I had to create extra playing pieces so EVERY child in the class could play together on the ONE board we had. Eventually I was able to get the money in our budget to buy more copies of the game.

Over the course of the year I tried to transition the kids to a different game, but they were not to be distracted! I warned the 4 year olds teacher to watch out for the Candyland addicts, and she came up with a clever way to end it in her class - she told the kids that Candyland was the 3 year olds game, and Chutes and Ladders was the 4 year olds game because the 4 year olds would be counting higher now. The kids accepted it unquestioningly....and became as addicted to Chutes and Ladders as they had been to Candyland! :rotfl:

You could always try switching to Mickey Mouse Yatzee :earsboy:

I have Mickey Yatzee and play it with all the kids that come over...it's a great game, even for little ones. Warning though, the shaking of the dice in the cup can cause migraines after, oh, 30 or so games in a row, so keep candyland as a backup :)

Wait.

You guys are complaining about 5 games of Candyland a day. I have just hand-painted about 450 of the 2000 shingles that will go on the roof of my DD's house that Santa guy left her.

LOLOL...oh..Santa brought one of those to my daughter years ago, except he had built it before xmas...wait until you have to paint all of the window sills, then attempt to glue them together while holding them with a rubber band so that the glue stays...

I didn't hand paint the roof shingles, although they each had to be glued indivudually...it was much easier to stain them all....

Best of luck with the dollhouse..it's a chore..but, the outcome is WELL worth it!! What style did you buy? (i'm a dollhouse fanatic)

When dd was little, she loved Candyland bingo and chutes/ladders. We played those over and over and over. Thanks goodness ds never got hooked on them--though we played a lot of the pokemon board game!

Victoria's Farmhouse. Believe it or not, I think Polly Pocket is moving in after it's finished.
