Is the Wyndham Resort a Problem for SSR? (Guests using SSR transportation/pool)

I remember reading somewhere that some (many) Wyndham Resort guests were going to SSR to use SSR bus transportation, DD boats, and the pools.

Is this a problem still?

I could see where this would be a problem. It could be taken care of by checking for resort I'D's before being allowed entrance to the pools.

Hopefully this will be handled better than at Stormalong Bay. Right now, the relative isolation and quiet is a huge advantage.

Could you be a little more specific? I honestly have no idea how well or not it's handled at Stormalong Bay. Although we own at BCV, we've only gone at very slow times, when hardly anyone was using SAB.

We've found SAB to be pretty rigorous in checking ID's...which we wholeheartedly support. I'm sure there are still some who manage to scam their way in there.

SSR's pool might be a temptation to Wyndham's guests...but it would be easy to monitor if they've set up the pool with restricted access points.

They'll definitely need something, since I was going to try to direct the Fort Wilderness people over there the next time I stay at WL!!

They'll see the pool and pretty soon folks will ride the ferry, lounge at the pool and run a load in the washer/dryer. The funny thing is that this is all too true. When we were there last weekend, it seemed we had the whole place to ourselves. The buses were generally empty. I had just told my DW that I read they were not offering bus service from DTD to the parks because people would take advantage of the free parking when a teen who got on the bus with us at MK when the park closed ask the driver if the bus was heading to DTD. When he was told no, we saw him hoofing over to the walkway at the main building stop. Hmmmm... I thought.... I wonder if SRR buses would be abused by people walking over.

How do you get from the Swan/Dophin area to Beaches and Cream without walking through the maze of SAB? We did it last October and couldn't find a way in. We just hopped over the rope and walked over the B&C. No one came up to us or said anything...then again, we weren't wearing swimsuits.

You can walk up the sidewalk into the lobby of the YC. Follow the hallway around the YC Galley toward the Yachtsman Steakhouse. You can exit there to an exterior sidewalk. Follow it along to B&C.

I think that the folks staying at the Wymdham Dungeon are generally good people who wont try to do things like that. Though I wouldnt put it past the WD employees to point them over to SSR.

All ripping aside, I think our busses and pool arent all that convenient for people to trek over.

CoolDisneyCat - thanks for the info. I guess that makes sense...but I just couldn't bother walking inside in order to enter a restaurant that has an outside entrance. Seems a little unfriendly...but I guess they had to make it that way in order to police SAB. Too bad.

stacy - Wyndham Dungeon, huh? Do you have something to tell me about this place? Sounds like we'll have an interesting stay. Heck, for the price we paid, I'll just be glad if it's clean!

Unfortunately, because of it's proximity to DD (and the Wyndham, etc) SSR will probably always have special security issues with bus transportation, parking, and pool use. Not to mention drunks from PI wandering over at 2:00 AM to just have some more "fun".

When we stayed at BCV two weeks ago, we were never asked for ID at SAB.

But, I have two observations:
1 - for our last two nights we moved to SSR and they were very strict with us coming in and out of SSR. SO, I'm guessing this is because they are fearful of other resort guests taking advantage of the pool and bus transportation. I'm glad they are strict about this, otherwise it would be too crowded for SSR guests.

2 - We returned to BCV on our last day at WDW to go to Beaches and Cream for lunch. That's all we had to tell the guard, as well, that we were going to B&C. Now, maybe he saw our SSR parking pass and that helped, but he didn't give us any problems with parking at BCV for B&C.

Now are there gates at SSR like at other resorts with a gurad booth? AND if people can walk over to the busses from DTD then we as owners have to make a point to show our cards when we board just so people who are sneaking on will feel unconmfortable trying to board. Also I remember when the resorts checked cards. It should be a must now.

I agree...I'm also glad they are being strict about this from the very beginning!

SSR doe shaving roving security all hours of the night that will help prevent some of the problems related to DD late at night. I was swimming in the quiet pool about 1:00 am when a security cm came by and we talked for a while but had to move on to make his rounds. They have a system where the guard has to visit certain points within a period of time. Looked reasonably secure to me.
