Is the WL Worth $1,215 More?

Put in a call to the AAA office I spoke to yesterday and asked for quotes on December 1-10 or December 5-14. As these are both listed in "value" season, I'm anxious to see if there is a difference in price.

I too love the Wilderness Lodge, as most things are in one main building, it's a quick walk to the pools, hot tubs & boat dock. I also love the fact that it's small and compact, so it's easy to get around. Also, there is just a warm, homey feeling about this resort. I loved getting up early and sitting in the lobby while it's quiet or sitting out on the 2nd floor deck or stroll down to the boat dock and just watch everything waking up.

The Boston AAA office called me back and dropped the price down to $3,000 for a woods view room for 12/1-12/10. She also said that she has seen discounts around that time as well and would be able to discount it more if a code comes out. I told her how the office told me that AAA only received discounts on courtyard view rooms and she said that that was incorrect.

Thanks everyone for your input. It was a tough decision, but since I have not been since November 2006 and this is a special birthday trip, decided to just go ahead and stay at the Wilderness Lodge. A woods view room was what I was looking for, so I need to put in a request for room 5032. This is the room I had on my last stay and below is a picture of the view from the balcony.

Here we go with the multiple posts....again.

Terk, call Disney direct. I have read that it is much easier to make changes to your package if you go directly through Disney. They can also add codes if they become available. Your AAA office may end up being a better deal, but it won't hurt to make the phone call.

That AAA agent was not correct, you cannot have more than one discount at a time. If one comes avail, it can't just be add either. If they have the same category room, they will change the ressie for you, but there is only a certain amount of rooms released with a discount and there is no guarantee that your room will be part of that discount.

I have found for that time of year the AAA discount is better than any of the other discounts released.

Sorry WL fans, but I was extremely disappointed in my recent trip and not only did I feel like the extra cost was an incredible waste of money, but I would have had a better vacation at Coronado Springs. I found WL to be noisy and it felt very crowded all the time. I was shocked at the size of Roaring Forks, and found the bus transportation to be horrendous. Several times we had to wait for the next bus because it was already standing room only when it got to WL. The moderates seem much more serene because they are more spread out. I also prefer the outside doors rather then the interior like WL. We heard everything going on in the hallways while in our room. :( Unfortunately, I did not find anything to justify the "Deluxe" cost.

Like the others have said though, it really depends on what floats yer boat...some love it and feel that the cost is worth it, others, like me, don't. I might eventually try AKL, but I am no longer in a hurry to do so and I have no interest in any of the other deluxes. My next trip will be either Coroando Springs again, or I might rent some DVC points and try SSR or OKW.

My DW and I stayed @ the WL for our honeymoon in may 07 and absolutely loved it. I had always wated to stay there and we decided to stay there instead of POFQ. We had gone to wdw before we were married and stayed at the ASM, we both agreed we loved the deluxe and didnt want to go back to value. So we bought DVC. You could try renting points from a DVC owner @ WLV that may be cheaper.

I had booked POR for my DH's birthday Aug 2007, but when the code came out we switched to WL and absolutely loved it, it was definitely worth the couple extra hundred dollars and we were treated like family the whole time we were there.
