Is the verandah worth the $$?

FYI, there is no difference in cabin size between Cat 6 & Cat 8 staterooms, except the size of the Veranda.

I didn't know Category 8 even had verandahs! I thought only categories 6 and lower had them?

Cat. 8's don't have verandahs. Only Cat. 7 and higher. Cat. 8's have big windows. The interior space of the cabin is identical between Cat. 8's and Cat. 6's :D

Our first Disney cruise was a 3 day with a Verandah. VERY nice. It was nice to see outside while coming in and out of port. My youngest was 4 at the time and still needed naps. While she napped, I could read a book with a cold drink on the verandah. In the morning, I could go out there with my coffee or tea.

Our 2nd Disney cruise was a 7 day western and we opted for an inside cabin to save $. ( I wanted jewelry as a souvenier!!) The kids were older and out of a nap phase. I am normally VERY clausterphobic with no windows, but the inside cabs have a large porthole mirror that gives the illusion of more space and light. The only drawback was that you do not get morning light that helps to naturally wake me up. I really liked the verandah, but I think I would be just fine with a real window.

My personal choice for the future would be book a guaranteed cat (not a specific room) and hope for an upgrade. Keep in mind that popular times of year and special cruises will probably be fully booked.
