what are your thoughts on the DDP, I know this has been discussed on here so many times but in my case what would you do

We are family of 5 DH, me, DS1-15, DS2-13 and DD-7 we plan to go Disney next year take advantage of the DDP however thought the middle plan the DDP table service wouldnt be enough food for us all and thought upgarding to Deluxe the cost of this is very high....and not something I want to do

what do you think is DDp enough for us ??

DDP is plenty of food.

If you are worried about filling your tennagers pick some all u can eat buffets or family syle meals for some of your TS options.

For QS meals you get a meal plus dessert and drink. It's not all burger and fries.

Plus you get a snack a day aswell eg a cupcake or icecream.

On ddp we usually do a snack in the room, early QS lunch and TS tea or TS character breakfast buffet and QS tea.

If you look in the restaurant reviews section on the main board you can see how people have used ddp and the great options.

We are 2 adults and a teen who all enjoy our food. 4 years ago we were in the same boat as you, worried the DDP was not going to be enough for us. We have just got back after doing it for the 4th time. I can't believe anyone would find themselves hungry doing it. We came back with about 30 bags of candy to use up the snack credits we couldn't eat there with too much food.
Most people I know by the end of the holiday have had enough food, can't face big meals for a while.
You could read thru my live trip reports to see the kind of food we got, this was this years, if you want I can find previous years http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2954922

If you have mega appetites there are plenty of buffets where you eat as much as you want, even for lunch on a counter service credit you can have a Mexican buffet at Pepper market CSR.

it's so much food it's insane!!

absolutely no need to upgrade to deluxe

however, i'll add that we buy cereal and milk to eat for breakfast in the room...

but we're always left with snacks at the end..
and sometimes also counter service and table service credits

also, the servings are quite large in many of the restaurants....
we often didn't even have room for the dessert..

yes, its more than enough.
If you did need anything, it will be cheaper just buying the extras, rather than upgrading.:thumbsup2

I honestly cant imagine how people eat all that food on the deluxe plan! The dining plan was questioned by my husband before we tried it and he can verify that the ddp is a ridiculous amount of food

if you're green and your first name is Shrek, then maybe the regular DDP will not be enough :rotfl2:

If not, then you'll probably think at some point that food was wasted with the regular DDP

the DxDP is just too much food. They'll be throwing so much food at you that you won't believe it.

QSDP might be a little too little with teens, but the DDP will be enough.
Still, with teens, always have snacks ready if you don't want them turning into angry gremlins by mid afternoon :)

We are a family of 4 who loves to eat. My DH can pack away the food!

We have used the DDP for our first three trips and are using it again next week.

We have breakfast in the room while getting ready - a breakfast bar, yogurt, and fruit. (We buy garden grocer and have it delivered)

We are rope drop people, and eat a QS for lunch around 11.

We then eat our snack credit in the middle of the afternoon, and do a TS for dinner.

We rarely buy extra food/snacks. DH has never gone hungry. We do carry bags of trail mix in our backpack for the kids, but that's only because they get so distracted at the meals sometimes it's hard to get them to eat!

Agree absolutely - especially as a couple of people already mentioned they have cereal/toast or something in the room for breakfast. Then there are two full meals per day left, plus a snack credit each - and what you can buy with a snack credit can be quite substantial...

DDP IS enough.
I would add that doing your homework on the DDP before you leave is a worth while thing e.g. Don't waste all your snack credits on water, try and buy that elsewhere (Garden Grocer is good for that). Our rule on snacks was if it was under $3.50 we'd pay OOP.Also on Quick Service meals,if i didn't want a dessert eg muffin or cookie,i would get a banana instead and have that for my breakfast the next day.

We did 21 nights DDP this time, gave us 63 snack credits. Didn't pay OOP for 1 item, we used about 10 snacks on cookies to make a birthday cookie arrangement and brought back about 30 snacks so used 20-25. We do take frozen bottles of water into the parks, we are always too full to use the snacks but we don't eat breakfast, I know many use snacks for breakfast.
There are loads of great ways to spend snack credits but a CS & a TS meal a day is as much food as we can eat.
Also work your drinks mug well and you are swamped with bottles of drinks.

It's plenty if u bring breakfast or if you pay OOP for breakfast.

Our goal has always been to stretch our credits for everything...including bfast. The only way to do this is to share meals. It worked for our family and we were always full. i skipped breakfast most days the last half of our trip because I was still too full from dinner!!

There was one morning where I pulled out the instant oatmeal i brought and gave it to my family for breakfast. They were too full to order a CS meal and wanted to use all their snack credits on oatmeal and fruit. It was near the end and I wanted those snack credits for souvies!!

Thanks so Much I didnt fancy paying to upgarde to the deluxe I was worried abour feeding my teenagers but they arent ganits unless unless its fast food pizza n bugers they'd love all that and thats qs anyway :rotfl2:

I agree I'll take a little extra dollers for any extra food and wine of course haahha

My adrs will definatly include Askerhus, Rose & Crown, Be our Guest, Tukers House, Yak & Yeti and Park Fare for HEAB. I believe all these will be included in my ddp.

Great advice as always

If they like pizza a good place is the food court at Port Orleans French Quarter, for 2 credits you get a giant pizza, 2 desserts and 2 drinks. Desserts can easily be saved for later (ask for them to go) We saw families of 4 sharing the pizza and 2 desserts.

Another good one for a counter service credit is Wolfgang Puck Express at Downtown Disney, probably the most highly rated place for a counter service credit.

Yes all are a TS credit, I think Akershus is one of the best value meals on DDP, photo included, Princesses, TS meal + buffet as well incl smoked salmon:cloud9:
Only one we didn't enjoy on your list was Park Fare.

The only thing we've ever paid oop is bread for toast! I think it was about $0.70 per 2 slices, refused to use a snack credit for that! Otherwise, we couldn't even use all the cs credits.

Yes! We love to eat & my hubby can put lots of food away, we came home with loads of snacks, & went to the airport with 2 cs meals that we hadnt used! :rotfl2:

Anyone who upgrades must spend more time eating than anything else! Unless u do lots of fine dining maybe? X

That 1st pic of pizza in Wayne's post reminds me of our first night on ddp in 2009.

DH was worried he would be hungry. I got a pizza like that from the foodcourt at All star movies, 2 big bowls of icecream and 2 drinks.

How many credits was that? 2 QS and we've got 40 left..his face was

Some good choices already on your list OP.
