I recall that over the past couple of years the state of Florida had a no tax week at the begining of August for items that were under $100.00 & had some other rules to it. Anyway I was just wondering if they are having this no tax week again?

They are having it again. I thought the news reported it was the last week in July.
Someone here will know for certain.

 Yep, it's coming again!

2006 Sales Tax Holiday planned for summer
Governor Bush and the Florida Legislature have approved Senate Bill 692, which provides that the 2006 Tax Free Days for Sales Tax will begin at 12:01 a.m., July 22, 2006, and end at midnight, July 30, 2006.
Senate Bill 692 provides for a sales tax holiday on:

Clothing and related items with a sales price of $50 or less
Books with a sales price of $50 or less
School supplies with a sales price of $10 or less

Oh man my family & I are going to miss it this year. :furious: I know I don't have it in my signiture but from July 31 - August 8, we will be in Clearwater Beach before going to WDW. Since we are driving down Interstate 75 we are going to miss it by 1 day, but nothing we can do about it.

FYI, Disney/Universal lobbyists got them to write an exception in so that this does not apply in theme parks (or hotel shops or airport shops). It should still be in effect at the outlet Disney stores, and of course any typical store in the mall or Target or WalMart.

I quote:

"This section does not apply to sales within a theme park or entertainment
complex as defined in s. 509.013(9), Florida Statutes, within a public
lodging establishment as defined in s. 509.013(4), Florida Statutes, or within
an airport as defined in s. 330.27(2), Florida Statutes."

Ala is finally having one the first weekend in Aug - so is Georgia.

Ala is $100 on clothes, $50 on school books(?), $30 on other books, $750 on a computer

if Florida having another get prepared weekend... they had batteries, radios, stuff to protect your houses without taxes last year. you know the stuff you need if a hurricane is in the area?

or did I miss it already?

you missed it. I believe it was right before or the very beginning of hurricaine season. it included batteries, flashlights just like you mentioned. I also believe it included generators up to a certain price too

Yes, you did miss it. It was in late May/early June, as hurricane season runs from June 1 - November 30.

I didn't buy anything this year, but last year I got a tarp (nice camoflage instead of blue), a cooler to put food in if needed and some jar candles at Yankee. They lowered the price of their large jars to $19.99 so they would be tax free! Not that they have been used yet, knock wood....

And, yes, as reported by another poster, the tax free does not apply to stuff you purchase at Disney (I was excited late year, until someone burst my bubble!)
