Is the Star Wars fireworks a can't miss show?

For us, the old version (fireworks only) was the best fireworks show ever. So we were honestly pretty underwhelmed by the new show. I think the fact that only a few spots have a perfect view of the new projections takes away from the experience. Sure, you can pay for a spot (plus a few cupcakes), or line up an hour and a half early...but that creates a lot of anxiety for most families. And we can attest to the fact that a poor line of sight makes a huge difference. The projections/lasers/fire effects are pretty cool, but we just loved the way the old fireworks show filled the sky.

Of course, one reason the fireworks are underwhelming in the new show is related to the fact that half of the park had to close early (TSM) to allow a safe zone for the old fireworks. I think Disney has made a conscious decision to use less fireworks to keep the rest of the park open. They certainly could fill the sky with fireworks for this show just as they did for the last show, but they have chosen not to do so for other reasons.

If you just wanted to see the fireworks part if the show could you view anywhere in HS?

Not well.
And, certainly not from "anywhere."

One of the main reasons why DHS can't put up such a large fireworks display like Star Wars Symphony in the Stars is that the launching area for the fireworks has been moved to outside/behind DHS and to the right. If the fireworks show was any larger than what they have now they would have to shut down parts of Osceola Parkway and maybe even parts of World Drive for safety reasons. These 2 roads are heavily transited by guests so they can't do that without creating a traffic nightmare.
They close the roads behind MK every night for Wishes but these roads are mostly used by CM so they know not to be in that area for that period of time

I would always see a show at least once. I haven't done this one yet; so, for me it is a yes.

Something that hasn't been mentioned is that the quality at Ohana's has fallen off a lot. It's no longer even on our list to go to period, much less over another event.
But, here locally we have a pretty awesome Brazilian steakhouse that opened last year and they blow them out of the water so maybe that has something to do with it too.

I was able to pick up 'Ohana for another evening so if my family does want to see the show, we can.
We love the 'Ohana breakfast (my kids love Stitch) and we will do it again next month. We have never done the dinner and my DH wants to try it.
