Is the rumor true - are they cancelling Commander In Chief?

I heard a rumor the other day from a friend that ABC is cancelling Commander In Chief. Has anyone else heard this?

I noticed that it is not on this evening, replaced by a few sitcoms.

DH & I really enjoyed this show & will be sad to see it be cancelled.

I don't know about cancelling it...Jay Leno said on The Tonight Show last night that ABC announced it was going on six week hiatus.

Geena Davis is recovering from surgery to remove a polyp in her throat and has to be silent until it's healed. But it is a very successful show, so I don't see it being canceled in the near future.

I certainly hope not. I really like it! I was unsure after the first episode, but I think it's great now. I like it better than Desperate Housewives even.

One thing: I really like the Mark-Paul character, but why in heaven's name is his name Dickey? Can't he go by Rick or something.

The last I heard was that I was on hiatus for 6 weeks, mostly due to behind-the-camera shakeups (they just got a new production staff). Plus they're coming up against the Olympics and other stiff competition.

I know they brought in a new producer (Stephen Bochco) because the creator/producer of the show (forgot his name) kept missing deadlines. Bochco is trying to put his own stamp on the show, so it may not be on a regular schedule for a while.

All in all, this does not sound good for the future of the show. Kind of a shame. I'm not a big political drama fan, but it seems like lots of folks liked it.

I think they have to retool the premise of the show. They've beaten the Mac vs. the nasty senator plot to death. It's gotten tiresome. And the dialog just plods; it's so slooowwww. And what's up with those kids? They dress the little one like a grandmother. I wouldn't be surprised to see it cancelled. I think they ran out of ideas after the 5th episode.

I read on Yahoo News the other day that American Idol and the Olympics sent the show into a temporary hiatus.

From what I read it said the hiatus was because of some early production delays and they have decided to take the 6 week wait. Guess Geena's surgery does have a lot to do with it.

i think it's a wonderful show; a strong woman who's not butch or b***hy, who doesn't let herself get pushed around; who is married with children, who still values her kids and husband.. has got to be a hard show to write; and her "nemesis" is just great at being someone you really hope doesn't make it, and still is likeable because he loves his wife (always have a soft spot for the guy who doesn't cheat on his wife; he can't be all bad..) i hope geena feels better soon.. i'll miss that show.. Our ABC station advertised a new episode for next week while According to Jim was on at 8pm.

I can't see them pulling this show because it's had excellent ratings since the beginning. I'll be irked if it goes...it's one of my favorites.

Just to be clear: The show did very well in its first few weeks, and maintained that after the showrunner was replace. Then, in the least few weeks, it has stumbled badly. It will still likely get an order for next year, but that order might be more cautious (only a half season, perhaps), and of more concern, if the show's ratings don't recover when the show returns in six weeks, all bets are off. The show is far too expensive to produce to survive as a mediocre show in terms of the ratings.

We liked it the first few weeks as well but then the story lines got worse. We wound up recording it and fast forwarding through some of the slower parts. I hope it does get better though.
