Is the rewards card worth it?

I dont have one (yet) they keep sending me offers.
Love to get home again and realistically there is no money to.
I thought this card might help!

Anyone use it enough to add up?
Thanks

If you're talking about the Disney Visa, I love it. We charge every little thing on it that we normally buy, including any monthly bills that take a CC. You have to make sure you pay it off each month to make it worthwhile, though. It adds up! We had a little over $200 for our last trip of "free money" to spend at WDW (in 6 months). When we get there, we charge the entire trip to it also and it starts adding up for the next trip :cool1: . It doesn't cost anything to do and you literally get free money :cheer2: .

Are you referring to the Disney Visa card?

It worked for us! We don't carry any CC debt so for us it's free money. We use the card for everything and pay it off monthly.

I was able to accumulate $620 toward my last trip :)

We put EVERYTHING possible on it and pay it off each month. We've had ours for about 8 months and have earned a pretty good chunk of $ toward our upcoming trip. When the deadline for the balance of our package comes due, I'll charge that, too, and then write the check to the CC company. I know that you can better returns on other cards, but this works great for us.

Also, we have 2 separate accounts for our family. We got the free $25 Disney Reward Dollars with both. We use one for personal purchases and another for work expenses. It works out great. :)

I applied for the Disney Visa Card last week. I received an offer in the mail for 0% APR for 12 months and $15 Disney gift card! Anyway, when I applied, they told me I would hear back via mail within 30 days. Does it really take that long? We're leaving for WDW on the 30th day. I was hoping to use it on our trip and buy our park tickets with it. Anyone know?

I had mine in a couple weeks but I've heard of others taking longer.

I've had mine a little over 2 years. We will be at WDW in December....I anticipate having around $800 of free "bucks"

I'm currently at about $675, but will be having a few bigger items to charge in the next couple of months, so I think $800 is what I will have.

It's been worth it to me

I did actually apply and receive this card to use for our previous trip, but it wouldn't activate in time for our departure. Had planned on putting hotel and airfare on it, but the reward points wouldn't have been available for us to use while we were there, so I cancelled

I've also read here some complaints about rewards expiring.

I plan on canceling my UA miles card to get the Disney card instead. I like to use miles to upgrade to first class rather than fly free (I fly free anyway, I'm a travel agent and my boss is always giving out free tickets the airlines give us) but UA has taken away first class on 4 of the 5 routes I fly most, so there's not much point in earning miles.

But money for Disney trips, that I can use!

I had the rewards card and just cancelled it. We prefer Discover for the cash back or the LLBean Visa for the rewards, free shipping, and free monogramming.

The Disney rewards weren't useful for us. We don't have a WDW trip planned this year, and so would use the rewards at the disney website or disney store. We went into the Disney Store three times this spring with our kids, and none of us could find anything we wanted!

Can someone please tell me how much money you have to spend to accumulate reward dollars/points? For example: If we would like to have $500 reward dollars to spend, how much would we have to charge in purchases to the Disney card? It doesn't say anywhere on the website and we are seriously thinking of getting the card. Thanks!!

The one I applied for gives you 1% back. In other words, for every $100 you spend, you receive 1 Disney Reward Dollar, up to $750 reward dollars per year.

Yeah, you get 1%. That doesn's seem like much but if you use it for about 5 years and then cash your reward in it will add up. I applied online on june 8th and received the card in the mail monday 20th. That isn't a bad turn around time. We charged our trip to the card same day. I don't know if we will get our $25 in time for our trip end of July but still hoping! Also as soon as our statement drops I will cash in the 1% I have already earned and hope it gets here before we leave too. It will be total of about $50. It might not seem like much but I'll take it! $50 of cool stuff from Disney is great!
Also, we use our debit for everything and this week my number was in with others that were stollen and my card was cancelled (without me know it). From now on I might use my Disney card for everything and then if something bad happens it won't tie up my checking account! :sunny:

I will be the lone NO in this thread. You can get other cards(I have ATT universal MC) that will give you 5% on gas, groceries and drugstore purchases and 1% on everything else. I have even seen cards that will give you 7%. Get better rewards and then go buy Disney dollars
To me, cash is king- what if for some reason you can't go to Disney, and you are stuck with all those DD?

I used it for two years, had $420 in rewards, so I got the rewards card and turned it into Disney Dollars at the Disney Store. We are going in December, my grandkids will have fun with their Disney Dollars, and now I've switched to a different card because I don't know if/when we'll go back to Disney World. It is really a stingy rebate amount, but it's a pretty card.
