Is the pizza really awful?

I keep hearing how bad the pizza is. Is it really so bad? Is it like the kind they serve in WDW? (We like that kind.)

My DS13 may be living on pizza this cruise, which is his dream, I think. :teeth: I hope it's not as bad as I've read here.

It is really bad by the pool, and room service is even worst, think globs of not so good sauce with a slice of american slightly melted on top. If you get it in Palo, it is really good.

I did not like it at all, but all 5 kids LOVED it. I think it is a "kid thing"

I would submit that the pizza at Pinnochio's is on par with a Dominos or Papa John's - taste is determined by how hungry you are....

No, Domino's and Pizza Hut are soooooooooooooooo much better. That's just my opinion. If it were like those I'd be happy. Not the best, but passable. With each cruise, I think the pizza might improve, but it hasn't happened, yet.

 Hi...

Well personally, have been on 5 (soon to be 6) cruises, I would have to say I love the pizza. We were a group of 9 and we ALL loved the pizza (not just the kids) My kids probably get the pizza at least 2 times per day and I have had it many times myself.

Guess it is up to you to try it for yourself and decide. :rolleyes1

IMHO...it's good!

I think it is a matter of personal taste. I would just wait until you get on board and try it for yourself, since everyone's tast is different. I have had better and i have had worse.

It's not that bad. If you are after a fast snack to hold you over until dinner it is ok. We only got pizza when the buffets were closed, or our son (8) wanted some. I liked the room service pizza. Maybe I got a good batch.

We like the pizza, our DD especially loves it. She thinks it's free!!!!

It's not as good as the pizza places, PH, Domino's and we have a place here on HH that they make it and you bring it home and bake it in your own oven on a special tray.

I'm sure The Magic and Wonder do not have pizza ovens like the pizza places have that we're used to, and I"m sure that makes a difference.

Just MHO...

If you like Dominos and other pizza that is like the frozen stuff you make at home then you should be ok with the pizza. I didn't care for it but I also dont like dominos or pizza hut type "fast food" pizza....

It is absolutely horrible. Made me LONG for Pizza Hut/Dominos anything else. It was the first thing I had on the ship and thank goodness it was all uphill from there!

Can't figure out why they even have it. I make better home-made pizza myself.

It's been a while but I remember liking it fine. The way it is on all cruise ships....that is except Caribbean Princess which I could not even eat it was so gross I couldn't even eat it! I hope Disneys is good, I tend to live on it on cruises....why am I so fat??? :rotfl:

We both loved the pizza!!! And we're 2 adults who live in New York and know good pizza! Lol. I think we pretty much had it for lunch every day, with fries, and Pam lived on the Chicken Tenders! (So healthy I know!)

OK Thanks for all of your opinions. I bet my kids will like it and that's all that counts for me! :flower:

the pizza was just OK...i think they use a poor quality cheese...it clumps together rather than being stringy like you see in dominos/pizza hut...it does remind me of the frozen single pizzas but it was an okay snack...i only ate a slice twice...if they would improve the cheese, the taste would be SOOOO much better....however, PLutos was great! they had some kind of beef tortilla roll up that was pretty much a fajita to go that was AWESOME!!! all the kids loved plutos! :mickeybar

We went on a 7 day Eastern last April and the pizze was fine. My daughter practically lived on it for the length of the cruise.

As with EVERYTHING on the ship, it's a matter of personal preference.

I'd put the pizza on board on par with any of the sub $10 a pizza outlets, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa Murphys, or any of the ones in the freezer section of your grocery store.

It's not as good as say Roundtable or probably any of the local mom and pop pizza places.......the one's that will set you back $20 a pizza.

Having said that, I could use a piece of DCL pizza right now, can some one transport me to the ships? :cool1:

I was pleasantly surprised after hearing the opinions on this board about the pizza. It is fine, I would compare it to Tombstone frozen pizza. Not gourmet by any means, but good for a quick lunch or snack. My 7 yo lived on it and ordered it every night for dinner and had it for lunch everyday.

The late singer-song writer Harry Chapin had an audience participation portion of a song in which the audience yelled "It Sucks!!" And that is what comes to mind with Pinocchios Pizza. Never did room service pizza on 4 DCL cruises.

For those who like it, I'll say that its not your fault, you might not have access to good pizza in your community. Just like I don't know anything about many things to which I have not been exposed.

Domino's, Pizza Hut, and Papa John's are not good pizza. At all. And all are superior to Pinocchios. Tombstone is better also. I grew up in an Italian town in Connecticut, and have many a pizza at Frank Pepe's in New Haven, the best pizza in the world. I've had many a slice in NYC. I've even been to Gino's East for all you Windy City folks, and while that is a different food item than a thin pizza, it is excellent. Pinocchio's is not good by any stretch of the imagination. I am reminded of school lunch pizza from 30 years ago.

Will kids like it? Perhaps. Now--the disclaimer--I didn't say I don't eat a few slices now and again while on board. Taking a few slices to a movie seems so much fun, who cares if it sucks. I also eat McDonald's hamburgers--but that doesn't make them good.

So focus on other food, but if you are passing by, you can have a slice or two in 20 seconds to have something to eat while in line at Pluto's.

The hawaiian seemed to have the dried pineapple that is usually found with nuts and seeds in the muesli type mix are at breakfast, rather than fresh pineapple. So I swapped over to the pepperoni. Which was the least objectionable.

We didn't have the pizza at Palo's, we have a decent amount of local pizza joints with good pizza, and local tuscan type restaurants with comparable pizzas to the style offered in Palo's, so we went for other items.

I liked the pizza. I had some bbq chicken pizza that was really yummy!
Then again, I think I could have been sitting in the sun near the pool, feasting on rocks, and still have had a wodnerful time.

As previous posters mentioned, I think it is a matter of taste. Try it, you might like it.
