Is the Orlando airport a big deal to get through?

We are flying to Orlando straight from Kansas City. Kansas city is cool because we can drop our daughter right off very close by the gate. There is no big long walk. Plus I thought of getting luggage that she could ride on if she gets tired. Or we could take turns giving piggybacks for a short while. Give kids the world will meet us at the Orlando Airport. What i need to know is Orlando a large and cumbersome airport to get through? What to expect there? Would we need a wheelchair or stroller there to get from the plane to the luggage to the van? With juvenille rheumatoid arthritis. Would it be a short walk to a waiting car like KC would be....
She is 47 lbs and 46 inches tall. Also my mom will be renting an ecv because of her knee. Would we want to pick up the ecv at the airport or having it wait at GKTW? My mom is like if it is a short walk yes but if is a long walk no.

So it all depends on Orlando's airport layout. :scared1:

The plan was for the medical stroller to be waiting at the GKTW and for her to walk to the plane in KC and from the plane to van at Orlando. I just need to know if the walk is far from southwest in orlando.

I would get a wheelchair at the airport. There is quite a bit of walking at MCO.

I would contact your airline to arrange for a wheelchair at the gate in Orlando. I know distances in Kansas City are small in the airport.

However, in Orlando there are sets of piers with ten gates on each. Three piers will merge into a central area, and there is quite a distance from the first gate to the central area, and lots more distance from the furthest gates. Then go through the central area to the tram to get to the main terminal, and then a distance to get to the escalators and elevators to go down to baggage claim.

Orlando Airport is pretty large. I agree with the others that it would be best to request a wheelchair to meet you at the gate.
Here is a link to the Orlando airport website; the page with maps of the terminals. If you click on the picture, it will get bigger.

The light grey lines with rectangles are the trams that go from the gates to the terminal building. The MAW people are generally waiting for their guests very close to where the tram enters the terminal. The baggage claim is one floor down and ground transportation is one more floor down.

The website indicates that Southwest uses gates 100-129, but that doesn't really tell you much since you don't know which of those gates will be assigned.
