I have heard that the monorail does not go round trip but stays on part of the track going forward and backward on only that section of track to go from TL to DTD....and back.

Has it open yeat as round trip again since Nemo is almost completed?

Also if it only travels on one section of track, back and forth versus roundtrip, can only Disneyland Resort Guest use the monoral from DTD at opening?

I will be staying offsite but will likely walk thru DTD on my way to the park.

The new trainsets aren't in yet though. At least, they weren't last time I was there.

It is back to round trip. For a fun ride, ask to sit in the cockpit. When you pass through the turnstile, ask the CM. You may need to wait for an additional monorail, but they are usually only 10 minutes apart. The cockpit can only hold 5 guests.

It was just not as fun 1/2 trip ( i am more of a WDW person and visit DLR recently) but why was it doing half trips beside the submarine ?

Just because of the Nemo construction. In order to get some of the heavy equipment into the Nemo area, DL had to dismantle part of the monorail track. Construction caused the same problem for the railroad. At least that's what a CM told me.
