Is the MNSSHP worth the money ???

I have 2 girls, 5 and 8.
Thanks for any help. We have 47 days to go and the whole family can't wait.

It depends on who you talk to! I love MNSSHP! I think it is a lot of fun and the atmosphere is great. It is neat to see everyone dressed in their halloween costumes. If you pick a slower weekend night, it normally isn't too overcrowded, but even on a busy night, it's not as busy as a busy summer day! The parade is very cute, and the headless horsemen is amazing! They also have a special showing of wishes, different from the normal one, which is also very good! I highly recommend it, and I go every year I can!

Our family usually goes to the MVMCP every year but last year we decided to give MNSSHP a try. Well...my kids want to go again this year!! (Their ages are 3, 6, and 8.) I am happy to report that we all absolutely loved it!!! It was a ton of fun to let them dress up and wander the park. The characters were great in their "costumes" as well. The ride times were minimal, and the CM's were a lot of fun. We didn't intend to trick-or-treat much but the CM's practically insisted and the kids couldn't refuse - lol! We left with three bags FULL of candy!! We all had such a great time that we are going to make a special trip down just for the party this year. We figure they (the kids) are not going to be "into" this forever so we might as well go while we can!!!!

Go and have a great time. If you never go, then you will never know. If you go once and don't like it, it was only one night out of your life!!! (I think you'll have a blast though! ;) )

MNSSHP (and Universal's HHN) is the purpose of our trip this year.
We went in 2003 and I joke with DH that, sorry, but MNSSHP is the best day of my life :goodvibes

Where else can you dress up with your kids?
It is a dream come true to Trick Or Treat around the most Magical Place on Earth!
The decorations, the lighting, the little special surprises that you would never expect to see...It is the happiest time me and my family have spent together.

And as far as crowds go, it wasn't crowded at all. By 10:00 ( I guess when all the babies got tired and cranky) the park emptied out quite a bit and with the darkness of night and the halloween themed lighting, I felt like I was walking in a dream. Also, you get to see a lot of characters you might not normally see. And there were no lines to see the characters, either.

So, is it worth it? I would take the chance to find out. I hope you decide to go and if you do, have a wonderful time :)

I'm so excited to find this thread! DH & I are going to WDW for my 30th birthday in September. We had planned to go in October and do MNSSHP, but he could not get that week off from work--it worked out so that we could be in park on my birthday. Just today, through a fluke, I happened to find out that there was an MNSSHP on Sept. 15--while we are there!!! I don't know how I missed that, but we got tickets!!

I wanted to do LTT around 4 or 4:30, but they are all booked up. I am so very excited!! I cannot wait! What are the "must-sees"--besides, of course, the parade (which I cannot wait to see!)?

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 We've gone to the Halloween party twice and loved it. Our kids were 4 & 5 and then 5 & 6. We really enjoyed seeing all the kids in costume and the parade and fireworks were great. My kids especially liked the trick or treat stations and the Headless Horseman at the end of the parade. Both years we went on a weeknight and the crowds were light. The characters were in costumes as well which made for fun pictures.

The Halloween party is one of our favorite things to do at WDW. If you go I hope you enjoy it as much as we have!! :sunny:

Totally worth the money!!!! I was not going to go last year when we went and then I thought maybe we would never go at Halloween again, so I got tickets.... So, happy I did!!!! It wasn't that crowded and it was terrific!!! I am almost positive we will go in 2007 and kids have already started asking if we could go during Halloween again!!!!

This will be our first time to go to MNSSHP and I was wondering if anyone can tell me if we need to bring our own candy bags or if they provide them. Thanks a lot! Can't wait to go!

Well...the beginning of the parade with the "headless horseman" is a not to be missed in my book. The fireworks are also more "spookier" than ever. The Haunted Mansion is even better in the dark and on a Halloween night - lol! Also, don't miss your special free photo shot. They mail the final pic and it's really cute with the character outline and date - a special keepsake! Look for the movement in windows on Main Street, the special lighting and decorations - all a plus. It's so totally cool to be there and catch glimpses of it all!!! Best of all - don't forget to Trick-or-Treat! CM's provide the bags and practically beg you to get a "treat"! Lastly, ride wait times are minimal and it's awesome - speaking of mid October dates and not Halloween itself.

Well...hope that helps! Have a spooktacular time!

Dh and I suprised our oldest at his birthday party the day before we left for Disney with an invitation to go trick or treating with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and the gang. He loved it. So much that he wants to go back and go for MVMCP - have Dh talked into Dec 2008

Sadly, there's no more free photo as of this year.. Disney will have Photopass people walking around instead. :furious:

I was lucky enough to score a couple of free tickets to the Sept 15 MNSSHP through work. I wasn't sure if it was worth the money, so I'm glad we'll get to give it a go for free, and know whether or not we'll actually buy the tickets next time. :thumbsup2

We went for the first time last Oct to the MNSSHP...the weather was still hot and alot of people were uncomfortable in their costumes...sweating and very red faced. MK was again packed like I cannot believe, I thought they had limited admission on the party nights but it looked to be as busy as any other time. We like the parade, could not see too much of it because the park was so full. We liked the fireworks and the ghosts on the castle. The large blow up characters were all over the park and that was neat too. They had stations set up around the park for trick or treating and they were giving out fistfuls of candy, nothing exciting. We got our free picture. After doing the MNSSHP once I said I would never do it again but since we are taking our 2 DNieces (3 and 10) for their first trip ever this October we will be going to the party for their enjoyment

To us it was the last 2 years.

What does the Headless Horseman do? Do you have any pictures? Does he come out alone or is he on the floats?

About 15 minutes before the parade begins they tell the Tale of the Headless Horseman over in Liberty Square. About 5 minutes into it, he rides.....and continues through the entire parade route. As the story ends, the parade starts. Or so I understand it....

We are going for the first time this year. We have no kids, we might wear themed shirts, but no official costumes mostly because it's still going to be September and the heat would be a bit much for a full costume. Anyway, I am most looking forward to HalloWishes! I am such a sucker for a good fireworks display. lol Maggie
