Is the Magic Kingdom welcome show being discontinued?

I've been out of the loop the summer, super busy times... My mother just told me that the Magic Kingdom welcome show is being discontinued as of October 1. Is this true? My heart will be broken if it is so.

I have not read anything about the welcome show ending. The railroad is on the refurb list for October again, this year from 10/12 - 11/20, I believe. Maybe that is what she is thinking about. It's my understanding that they still do a version of the welcome show, but without the train.

Will the railroad be down for a bit? This happened on one of our recent trips and then two days later the train was up and running again and all was good.

It's good fun, especially if you resist watching it on youtube first. Everyone is so excited, we went on our first morning in December, great start to the trip!
