Is the Lion King show Boring?

I've read a couple of times now that people have fallen asleep during the Lion King show (at AK) or think it's boring. We are a family of ride lovers and have chosen to skip quite a few shows. We did Beauty and the Beast last year and we liked it, and we usually do the Voyage of the Little Mermaid show. However, we've never done the Nemo show or Lion King at AK. I've seen videos of both on youtube (not the whole show) and the Nemo one looks good but I don't know what to make of the Lion King.

Is it more of a Broadway type show instead of an entertainment for kids show? I know many people say it's a great show but I'm trying to gauge whether it's the right type of show for my family. I guess the best thing to do is to see it and decide for ourselves but I don't want my kids complaining the whole time.

Thanks in advance.

There's a lot of action and good music - I don't think they would be bored. :) I took 50 high school kids to it and they loved it!

My family has seen it 3 times and we haven't ever been bored watching it. The music and performers are wonderful. Also, the show is relatively short and goes by quickly. I think if you have never seen it, you should try it and see for yourself.

I don't know how anyone could say it's boring. My 6 year old was entranced by it. They have acrobats, a fire dancer, etc. It's an awesome show and my fav of all the parks. I would make this a must do.

My kids (DS 12 DD 10 DS 9 & DS 7) loved it and can't wait to go back and see it again this year! Even my husband liked it!

We loved the Lion King show - group of 6 incl a 6yo and 11yo -they have audience participation and it is absolutely breath-taking

It is also very well done and the performers are fantastic - I have seen the Lion King in Londons West End and while very different it was every bit as professional

I would recommend the show to anyone going to AK - it has a great mix of dance/singing/acrobatics/humour and the animatronics are superb

Dont miss it!

Are you sure they werent talking about Nemo at AK? Festival of the Lion King is rather action packed, not sure how you could fall asleep during that.

I think dh may have fallen asleep in every sit down attraction that was air conditioned. Even he liked the lion king.

We just saw it last week and my DD10 said it was the best part of AK. We all liked it a lot!

You sit on benches so I would think falling asleep would be difficult--and not fun for the person beside you! :goodvibes

:goodvibes Mine too. If it's cool, dark and he is sitting down in the middle of the day he is out. In November he finally made it all the way thru the American Adventure, prorbably on his 15th try. He has never fallen asleep in FOTLK, we all love that show and see it a few times a trip. Maybe the posts you read were about Nemo, I could fall asleep in there if the seats weren't so danged uncomfortable.

It's upbeat and fantastic! A favorite for us!

Not boring! Lots of action and music. High production value. We wouldn't miss it.

In my opinion, you would have to be completely exhausted and bored (with the whole day) to fall asleep.

If you want a nap, go to the HS Little Mermaid show.

It is easily the best show at disney. I could fall asleep in Nemo because its long and not that exciting (Nemo is more like a broadway musical). Lion King is exciting with muic, dancing, acrobats, its a great show

I would consider the "Festival of the Lion King" to be the very best show at any of the theme parks! We attend everytime that we visit WDW.

Interestingly, Finding Nemo is more of a "broadway" type production - actually similar in style to Broadway's Lion King, where oversized animals come out into the audience, and it is a retelling of the story.
Festival of the Lion King is not the Lion King story at all....the only thing in common is the presence of Simba, Pumba and Timon. It is done in the round and fills the space with music, dance and color. My DD must see it every time we visit...and must be seated in the Lion section....

I agree with the other posters-- FOTLK is easily the best show in any of the theme parks. Great music, great performers, audience participation... they have a fire dancer, for cryin' out loud! :) My kids (ages 4 and 6 at the time) LOVED FOTLK and can't wait to see it again this trip. Nemo was good, but more of a Broadway style show. While the kids liked Nemo, it didn't get the rave reviews that FOTLK did. It's a "must do" for us!

Never heard anyone describe FOTLK as boring, and honestly there is no way it could EVER be described as boring. It may not be someone's cup of tea, but it is vibrant, action packed, engaging and dynamic. Of course the only way you'd know if it's for your family is by trying it. I've been delightfully surprised at how much I've enjoyed shows that I thought I would hate. We're ride people and have always thought of shows as a waste of precious ride time. Beauty and the Beast comes to mind. Not for us. But FOTLK and Nemo...outstanding!
