Yes, I am also very surprised. People have said it needed to be strong but I am so surprised as to how well this was built!

I have never seen DHS without the hat, but was never thrilled with it to begin with. I have seen pictures of the park prior to the hat being there and like it much better without. I can't wait to see the Studio's in June.

Wow, Thanks that is getting close! I think it is the same as what CAS239 posted but a different view. Hard to tell if that ear is gone or just can not see it from this view.

I am not surprised at all. Florida has a hurricane season that lasts six months. A falling hat might kill a few tourists and cause many law suits.

And yet...The structures on New York Street and the other facades aren't nearly as intricate. All of WDW sits in the same hurricane danger and not many structures appear to have that much infrastructure.
