Is the GC Concierge worth it?

We are looking at booking a room next January at the GC in Concierge and really want to know if people think it is worth it. We are visiting using our DVC points so the Concierge floor will use a lot of points and we don't like wasting them on inadequete services or lack of special features. With Disney going through bad times lately we want to make sure they are not cutting back in this area.

Please let me know what you think of the GC Concierge.

That is a tough question because how you personally define money being "worth it" has a lot to do with you.
Anyway I have stayed there a few times and I really enjoyed it but it is very expensive and my dh did not think it was "worth it". He is a true bargain hunter - I am a bit more of a spender and not thinking about cost type person.
If you eat breakfast there each day (that means no other planned character breakfastst, etc) and go back in the evening for the wine and cheese that is a start. I have never stayed at any of the concierge at WDW but from others I have heard that DL's is not as extensive (as far a food choices, etc.)
They do also have water and soda and chips during the day to take or enjoy at the lounge and a neat evening cookies and storytelling thing that kids age 4-8 would enjoy a lot (my 3 yr old ds couldn't sit through a story to save his life!) There are also DVD players in your room and the lounge has some DVD's you can check out for free. Of course there is the usual help for making reservations and other needs that a concierge desk handles.
Oh yes, we also had a great in-room check in service that was a nice touch too.
I think that's it. Others may have thoughts as well.

On the Gold Plan at GC (concierge) do you get a prevacation planning kit and does concierge contact you to make the PS?
