Is the GAC still available?

While they may change the way you get one or how you qualify, you can rest assured, Disney will always offer a GAC. :thumbsup2

We got one on our February 11-14th visit but the girl in guest assistance was pretty much useless and so was the pass. What really helped us was when one of the cast members demonstrated to my wife that all she needs to do is go in through the exit and stop at the yellow line. Soon a cast member from the ride team will show up. When they do show them or tell the people that you have a mobility appliance or issue that needs their help. They will cue you on to the ride.

This isn't a Disney thing, we were told it was part of California law.

Sounds like you were abusing the system.

The Cast Members fill out the card based on what you tell them to satifsy your needs not your wants.

Actually what the person was saying is that it wasn't explained to them until much later that they were supposed to gain access through the exit of non-fastpass attractions when using a GAC. And most non-fastpass attractions don't have a CM at the entrance to answer questions. Without knowing this information and without having a CM at the attractions to ask, a GAC would indeed be pretty much useless.

Actually that isn't always the case. A GAC is not simply a front of line pass.

I don't recall saying that.

I was simply stating that it did not sound like they were abusing the system, they simply didn't understand how to use their GAC.

Thanks for your reply.
Knowing that I will make sure I will ask how to use the pass when we get there..

Hi there.
Thank you for your reply,
If as you said that we should go through the exits of these rides and then there being no staff there to assist , then how would you gain access, I am not looking to jump lines as some people may think, (not you) but I have mobility issues and use a cane , I was told I could get a GAC but if there are no staff to help.. then would I even bother? and just sit out the rides while my family do them instead?

Thanks again

Nikki

In most cases there is somone at the Handicapped entrance. Only a few where you go in an exit and the attendant isn't there because he or she is unloading the attraction and moves away from the spot where you go. They will usually be back after the ride cycles.

When you get your GAC also ask for the Guidebook for Guests with Dissabilities. It will describe in detail what can be accessed at each attraction and what you should do. I'm sure if you looked on the internet you could find pictures of this book to read ahead of time, but don't worry it's very easy to use once in the parks.

It's just like skiingfast said. On the attractions where you gain access by going through the exit, the ride loading attendant will be the one to assist you.

Definitely get a guidebook. :thumbsup2
